Top 10 Movies to Rent or Own

Minority Report, Terminator 2

Movies have become more popular and exciting to watch in theaters than ever with the addition of “Blu-Ray” and “DVD” movies to watch in the comfort of your own home. Since 12 years-old I’ve come to adore movies of all genres; from science fiction to dramatic films, movies have become a part of my daily life. These are several movies in the past and present that have fascinated me. As the summer season kicks off here are 10 films I recommend to rent or own:

“Poltergeist”Horror thriller released in 1982, this movie was the scariest movie I’ve ever seen, when I saw this movie it taught me to always turn the television off it could be a ghost inside the TV. Movie Plot: A California suburban family the Freelings are visited and stalked by ghosts in their home. At first the ghosts appear to be friendly when they communicate with five-year-old Carol Anne Freeling through the television set, they use the TV as their path into the house. Later in the film they kidnap young Carol-Anne and the family fight back to rescue her. Eventually they rescue her, but then the ghosts, led by a demon known only as The Beast, go on a rampage to get what they want, the girl. This film is rated (PG).

“Predator”Science Fiction Adventure released in 1987, this film changed the way I looked at aliens, the predator made Arnold Schwarzenegger look human and beatable.Movie Plot: A group of Commandos set out on a mission to rescue hostages captive by a guerrilla group in Central America. The group finds themselves hunted by an alien life form that’s well skilled in hunting prey. This film is rated (R).

“Terminator 2: Judgment Day” Science Fiction released in 1991, this sequel continues where the 1984 hit “Terminator” concluded. Movie Plot: After 10 years Sarah Connor was targeted for termination by a cyborg from the future. Terminator 2 follows Sarah Conner and her 10-year-old son John Conner dangerous quest to save the world. “Arnold Schwarzenegger” returns as the protector instead of the cyborg assassin to guard John Conner from the other Terminator “T-1000”, an advanced new model programmed to kill John. “The mimetic polyalloy” liquid metal gave the “T-1000” the ability to take the shape and appearance of anything it touches. This film is rated (R).

“Changeling”Drama released in 2008, Directed by “Clint Eastwood” and starring “Angelina Jolie,” Movie Plot: based on real life events in 1928 Los Angeles,Christine Collins (Jolie) a single mother returns home from work to learn her nine-year-old son is missing. Several months later the LAPD finds her missing son when she comes to realize he is a fraud. Collins bravely confronted the LAPD helping to change the corrupt law enforcement in Los Angeles. This film is rated (R).

“The Usual Suspects” suspense thriller released in 1995, this is the best crime suspense drama ever made. Movie Plot: Five criminals are arrested and confined into a New York police station because a crime was committed and they are the usual suspects. They later form a partnership to do a job for a little revenge. They find out that the jobs they been performing are controlled by someone else who know their every move, only because each of them crossed the wrong person at the wrong time. This film takes you on a wild ride and has you guessing to the end and asking yourself who is that someone controlling them. This film is rated (R).

“The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy this Science-Fiction series was based on the novels by “J.R.R. Tolkien,” LOTR will be forever the best trilogy under “Star Wars.” The LOTR series of films are rated (PG-13).

“Transformers”Science-Fiction released in 2007, “Michael Bay” is a genius, many people thought it could not be done but he did it and now the “Transformers” franchise is more popular because of this film, based on the 1984 animation hit series. After watching this movie you will remember the slogan “More Than Meets the Eye. Get ready for the sequel “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” is expected for release on June 26, 2009. This film is rated (PG-13).“Star Wars” Trilogy/Prequel“George Lucas’s” epic galaxy adventure will go down in history as the #1 movie franchise ever created. “May the force be with you.”

“Minority Report” released in 2002 this Science-Fiction Thriller directed by “Steven Spielberg” and starring “Tom Cruise” Movie Plot: set in the year 2054 in Washington, D.C., a special police department called “Precrime.” Precrime eliminates murders from happening through three incredible psychics, called “Precogs.” Precrime Chief John Anderton (Cruise) soon learns that he is accused of a future murder of a man he’s never met, his faith in Precrime is instantly shaken. He goes on the run, and is trailed by Precrime police. Minority Report” was one of the best Sci-fi films I’ve seen since “Star Wars” Spielberg created a distinctive futuristic look, with incredible chase scenes and a great performance from “Tom Cruise.” This film is rated (PG-13).

“The Dark Knight” Action Adventurereleased in2008 Batman and the Joker clash in this all-time blockbuster hit brings “DC comics” back on top where it belongs. Oscar winner and late actor “Heath Ledger” gives a powerful performance as the menacing Joker. This is the best movie ever made in the history of movie making. This film is rated (PG-13).
