In the 1970’s, the rock music group the Eagles exploded out of Los Angeles, California onto the radio airwaves. I was but a child then. My older siblings immediately fell in love with this band’s cool music and I did also. There were Eagles albums, posters and T-Shirts galore around my house and I loved them just as much as my older sisters did. My love for their music never stopped. Here are my picks for the top 10 best Eagles songs. These are my personal favorites.
1. Hotel California. A groovier and cooler tune has never been done, in my opinion. This song is sultry, sexy, scary and great. All at the same time. What a combo. This song tells a scary story. I loved and appreciated it. The music, the lyrics and the singing created a true Hotel California in my mind. No, I don’t want to go there. Brrr. I loved hearing about it though. This is one of the Eagles greatest songs. A classic.
2. I Can’t Tell You Why. From the first time that I heard this song, I loved it. It is heart ache, love and trying to understand and explain it all. The Eagles do it well. A creative song that sticks in my head. I enjoy it. It is honest, heart wrenching and so soft. The singing is beautiful. A must hear for Eagles fans.
3. Lyin’ Eyes. This song tells the story we have all heard before. Never choose money over love. You will be miserable. You can’t hide it. Got it? Good. A brilliant song that earned it’s place on my list of top 10 best songs by the Eagles.
4. Already Gone. I used to sing along with this song loudly and joyously. It celebrates freedom from a bad relationship. Yay! What a musical celebration. We can all relate to this song and the relief of setting ourselves free. This song was a huge hit for the Eagles. It is worthy.
5. Victim Of Love. Hoo boy, this song is a winner and it tells a tale that many of us can relate to. Not too smart moves made in the dance of love tend to make you a victim of love. Yep. This song asks the question “What kind of love have you got?” indeed, what, that is the burning question. Maybe we don’t want to know but, we should. Right? Right. Thank you, Eagles, for bringing this problem into the light.
6. Life In The Fast Lane. Now, many of us have been in the fast lane before. It is always a relief to get over. Into the slow lane. For some of us anyway. Moving that fast for too long can be deadly. This Eagles song tells that musical tale with style and a rock steady beat. The guitars are soul stirring. A creative classic Eagles song and one of their best.
7. Long Run. I love this song. It has a spirit of endurance, patience and reality. Mix in hope for the future and some good advice and you have a winner of a hit song. This is certainly one of the top 10 best Eagles songs.
8. Disco Strangler. This song choice will surprise many but, this song is so cool. The Eagles mixing a disco beat with their rock style is creative and fun. A must hear. This song is unique. It is on the Long Run CD. Check it out. I bet you will love it. I do. “Slip into the arms of the disco strangler” and you will never forget it. A danceable and toe tapping tune.
9. Those Shoes. You can almost feel and touch the emotion, sexiness and heat of this Eagles song. It invades you and leaves a mark. This song is different from many Eagles songs and I think that is why I like it so much. The musical question is asked “What you gonna do in those shoes?” We all want to know. Great tune.
10. Love Will Keep Us Alive. This is a beautiful song. Absolutely beautiful. It is loving, sweet, soft, simple and romantic. Sigh. It marks the Eagles progression to a different style of music. If you ever want to impress a lady, play her this song. You will be glad that you did. The emotional singing makes your heart respond and sing with love.

Honorable mention goes to the songs Witchy Woman, Take It To The Limit, Tequila Sunrise, Heartache Tonight, New Kid In Town, Take It Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Desperado and Best Of My Love. It was hard to pick just ten Eagles songs but, I know my personal favorites and they are listed here. I love them. This band will always be winners. Forever.
