Today on ‘The View’: Makeup Expert Lori Klein Reveals Glam Eyelash Secrets

Eyelash Extensions, Lash Extensions, Latisse, Makeup Forever

Fashion Fridays continue on “The View” with pre-taped segments, giving our favorite ladies a much-needed break from daily live TV. Today one of the “Hot Topics” was Sherri Shepherd’s upcoming performance on “Dancing With The Stars.” Her dance partner is the handsome Val Chmerkovskiy. The bubbly host confessed that the three to four hours a day of rehearsals with Val are much more grueling than she anticipated.

Sherri’s first dance on the competition will be the fox trot. She said that when her husband Sal met her after one really difficult rehearsal she collapsed into his arms in tears. All of this and she’s just getting started!

Wait until you meet Len Goodman,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg quipped. She reminded Sherri of the skill and precision that the hardest judge on “DWTS” demands of the ballroom dancing contestants.

Today’s show also featured a wedding gown fashion show with Vera Wang and Joy’s Comedy Corner with Sherri’s BFF, comic Bone Hampton. Wang premiered a series of black and nude colored wedding gowns that were actually to die for. Bone joked bout trying to dance at Sherri’s wedding.

All of this was just a set up for the most informative segment of the day, an interview with Lori Klein. Lori is Barbara Walters’ Emmy Award-winning makeup artist. Lori brought a bag of tricks to have the best eyelashes, which she shared in a segment with Sherri and an especially perky Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Lori’s Top Eyelash Tips

Eyelash Extensions

If you’re looking for Kim Kardashian-style luxurious lashes, Lori recommends that you get lash extensions. She showed a clip of lash spa Ebenezer Lashes in Manhattan, where a fresh set of peepers should average about $90. The look has to be refreshed at the salon every three to four weeks but is perfect for a special occasion.

Eyelash Growing Formulas

For those who are looking for something more corrective, Lori displayed Latisse. Latisse is available by prescription from your dermatologist. Loris also showed the lash growing product Revitalash which is available over the counter. This is the product that she says she uses. The products have great results but when you stop applying them you turn back into Cinderella– before the ball.

Mascaras

Of course we all know that the quickest way to glam lashes is mascara, but which ones? Lori explained that her favorite mascara brands changed whether she was going for a more dramatic result or an every day look. She recommended Loreal Voluminous Original, and Maybelline Falsies.

False Eyelashes

Then there’s good old fashioned fakes. The method the expert suggested for best application of false lashed is cut them to size, bend them and let the glue become tacky before sticking them on. Speaking of tacky, she then decorated Elisabeth and Sherri in fun and colorful eye looks from Makeup Forever.

So what have we learned today, class? If you can’t afford a couture Vera Wang wedding gown for thousands of dollars, you can always pick up a mascara for four bucks.

What will “The View” co-hosts get into next Fashion Friday? Who knows but we’ll be watching.
