Tips when Applying for the Show “Survivor”

At Home Work, Psychological Testing

In my quest to be on the reality TV show “Survivor” I did a lot of research that I will sum up here:

1. Very Important – Read every single piece of paperwork you have in the initial paperwork that you have to fill out. You can print out the entire application on the CBS website but it’s only available at certain times, typically right after a Survivor episode has finished. Make sure you go over everything twice and mark as complete before you mail it off. I made a very stupid mistake in that I did not include my passport. Yes, you must include a passport or at least include the paperwork stating you have filed for one. In the event you do not have a passport, you’ll need to snap to it because it can take a couple of months for it to arrive unless you have it expedited. The Survivor Staff will not even view your video if you do not include every single document needed.

2. Upon making your very unique video remember that they want to know who you are. They want to see your personality. Many people, thousands of people for that matter, think that all the staff wants to see is shirts being taken off and bodies revealed. They have seen enough of this. If they like you then they will get enough of seeing your body in the final stages when you have to fly to an undisclosed location for a battery of physical and psychological testing. For video ideas, get the Survivor rentals and watch the casts personal videos included at the end. Your Video does not have to be professional, just unique. It is better to film it in your own environment then to go to a casting call where you sit in a little room and talk about yourself. Borrow a video camera or rent one if you have to. Your chances are better if you can do retakes and put your own personal touch in it within your favorite places whether at home, work or Six Flags!

3. Get involved in Survivor Blogs and message boards. Many people on these have tried out for the show over and over. Some have even been called to the interview phase and offer helpful suggestions on what to do or what not to do.

4. During the waiting period for the pack they mail prior to an interview you will want to practice fasting and buffing up to get into shape. If you can’t jog a mile without huffing and puffing then you will need to use this time to build up your stamina.

Good Luck and maybe I’ll see you on the Island! 😉
