Tips on Cleaning Your Room Fast and Easy for Kids

Declutter Your Closet

Teaching kids effective methods to clean their room fast is very important to their development. It teaches them organization, efficiency and effectiveness in facing challenging tasks. Most jobs require the type of diligence that this teaches kids. With a few simple tips, even the messiest kid can effectively clean their room fast.

Throw it away

Entering a messy room can be overwhelming if you only have a few minutes on the clock and you need it cleaned now. Rather than following your instincts and hiding everything under a rug, think a bit. The reason most of the things that are out and about is either because you needed it and forgot to put it back or because you don’t know where to put it. If the latter is true, in all likeliness you don’t need it. So approach your room with a trash bag in hand. Throw away anything and everything that you can’t immediately reason why you need it. Most messy rooms I’ve experience have to do with an excess of junk rather than an absence of storage.

Get boxes

Okay, so everything has a place and everything in its place but right now, you’ve got a game to catch and you can’t recount all the places. So what do you do? Grab some empty boxes and neatly recreate storage. If it helps, organize your storage into categories. Games and toys in one box, school work and books in the other. This will get rid of the clutter and save time trying to find a place for all of the scattered items.

Hit the floor

Perception is everything when considering whether a room is clean or not. I personally think that a room is only clean when there’s virtually nothing in it not when thousands of items are “neatly put away”. However, to each his own. So when looking for the quickest way to clean the clutter, pick up everything that’s on the floor. When a person enters a room, the first thing they usually look at is the floor. If there are toys on the floor that equals danger and danger equals disorder.

Organize clutter

If all else fails or you really don’t have the time to do anything else, you can always organize your mess. A messy table can appear clean when all of the papers are neatly tucked in a corner. A floor covered with toys can be appear uncluttered when they are neatly set aside.

Ditch detail

Overall, a room’s messiness can really lie in the eye of the beholder. What’s messy to some, might not be messy to others so when trying to clean your room fast and easy not every detail matters and you don’t need to spend too much time on one mess. Try to focus on the overall so that you don’t overlook any major clutter while your too busy focusing on details.
