Tips for Cleaning Up Mastiff Drool

Mastiffs

As the owner of an Old English Mastiff I can attest to exactly how much drool they leave behind everywhere that they go to. However, since they do leave behind so much drool and it is impossible to catch it all before it reaches your floor, ceilings, or walls I know how hard it can be to get off of them. If you are like me you are also going to have problems getting to it right away before it dries. Here are some tips that can help you clean up Mastiff drool before it reaches your walls, right after it reaches your walls, and after it has already dried onto your wall.

The first Mastiff drool clean up tip would be to utilize an old rag or towel to wipe their face off before the drool goes flinging. Now to accomplish this successfully you will have to be near your Mastiff when they are eating or drinking. I know that this can be time consuming, but it will save you a ton of time later on in the day when you are playing discover the drool with your socks on floor or hands when you hold onto a wall for support. Now I know that it is not possible to catch all the drool at this step, which leads to the second tip.

The second tip is to try to get to the drool on your floors, walls, or ceilings before it dries. Now this can be a little bit harder to do because I know that my Mastiff will fling his drool all the way across the room and I have found drool even behind my television stand which he cannot even get to! So the search for this form of drool can be a little bit more difficult, but the cleanup at this stage is very easily done by using a paper towel or some form of a towel to wipe up the drool with the amount of drool though I would recommend either purchasing stock in a paper towel company or using an old bath towel that you can rewash.

The third tip is what most people including myself would consider the most difficult stage and that is cleaning up the drool after it has dried on your walls, ceiling, or floor. Now if you are like me you have probably tried just a wet paper towel and had only moderate to no success at all using this method. However, the best cleaning method that I have found is by putting Spic and Span in a bucket with hot water. Then with the hot water and the cleaning agent I was able to use a scrub brush or sponge and get the drool off quickly and easily. You do have to make sure that your paint though is washable. If not then you are going to have to try the first couple of methods and hope that you do not reach this point.

While cleaning up your Mastiffs drool can be very time consuming you will want to remember that if you want to keep your home looking clean and nice that you are going to want to do this task. The first tip though and easiest one to accomplish is to get the drool before it drops off of your pets face, then to move on to getting it before it dries and last if all else fails cleaning your walls. Remember Mastiffs do drool and cleaning that drool up is a job of its own, but one that can be accomplished easily.
