Things that Need to Be on a Freelancer’s Website

Are you building a website for your freelance business? Are you wondering what you should put on your website? Well, there are certain things that definitely need to be on your website in order for you to become a successful freelancer and gain clients. Having my own website as a freelancer and doing well with clients, I thought I would share the things that you need to put on your freelancer website in order to be successful as well.

The last thing you want to do is fool around with someone who is trying to take you for a ride and receive free work. If you have everything laid out on your website, there shouldn’t be any questions as to what you charge, what you do, and how your work is. Take a look below at what should be on your website as a freelancer looking for private clients.

About Me Section

One of the first things you need to put on your website is an “About Me” section. In this section, you need to talk about who you are, your passion for writing, web design, or whatever it is you want to do. You also need to discuss your past history on being a freelancer and how you strive to give all of your clients the best you can.

Examples of Work / Portfolio

Another section that needs to be on your site is the “Examples of Work” or “Your Portfolio.” In this section, you need to provide samples of your work. If you are a freelance web designer, you need to have mock ups of websites you have built and maybe even links to the live sites. If you plan to be a freelance writer, you need to have samples of your work posted. You can choose to post full or partial articles. You can also post links to your work on other websites.

Price List for Jobs

Another section that needs to be on your website is your price list for the jobs you are willing to do. How you come up with the prices are totally up to you. You can do estimated prices, or you can do set prices.

Quote Form

You also need to put a quote form on your website. This will allow private clients that want to email you for a quote on what they are looking for an easy way to contact you.

Testimonials

You also need a testimonials section on your website. This is a section where you post great feedback snippets from people you have done work for. This will allow people who may be interested in hiring you see what great work you do.

What You Will Do

Lastly, you need a section that will explain the type of work that you are willing to do. This also allows you to explain what you won’t do like write porn, or build porn sites. Of course this is all up to you and what you are willing to do.

One last important thing… Make sure that your website is professional looking and not like a 5 year old built it. Someone looking for a freelancer may close your page out as soon as it loads if you have a badly designed website with poorly written information!
