‘The View’: Can Dr. Doris Day’s Hair Loss Tips Help Naomi Campbell?

Doris Day, Stop Hair Loss

August is “Hair Loss Awareness Month.” To “celebrate” and educate, dermatologist and hair specialist Dr. Doris Day dropped by “The View” to share her hair re-growth tips. The advice may have come just in time for supermodel Naomi Campbell.

The professional beauty and her non-existent hairline were photographed on a luxury yacht. The pictures reveal large bald patches on Campbell’s scalp. The cause of Naomi’s hair loss may be the wear and tear of years of heavy hair extensions on her delicate tresses.

Hair loss can affect women of all backgrounds. Naomi is arguably one of the most beautiful women in the world, and her public temper tantrums and phone throwing antics haven’t kept her from working. The British bombshell is still heating up runways and magazine covers, and her hair is part of her iconic style.

Courtesy of “The View,” here are 5 ways that Naomi might be able to save her lovely hair. Of course, the show included a disclaimer that viewers should check with their own physicians for advice.

Cortisone Shots
Barbara Walters was hilarious in this segment. When Dr. Day said that cortisone injections to the scalp can stop hair loss and promote hair growth, BW refused to believe that this would not hurt. The doctor said that stress can also be a factor in hair loss, and this treatment can help. She pointed out that it’s best to start this anti-inflammatory procedure as soon as hair loss is first noticed.

Protective Styling
Elisabeth Hasselbeck was the straight-woman to a giddy Barbara here. Elisabeth acknowledged the emotional toil of hair loss on women. Naomi makes her living on her looks so losing her hair is no small thing. The goddess might want to look into protective styling. Since braids and extensions can pull at the hair, taking a beauty break might help. If Naomi spent 6 months wearing scarves, caring for her hair under wigs or taking it all off like model Amber Rose, the break could allow her hair to regrow without stress.

Rogaine for Women
Dr. Day is also a Rogaine fan. We all know that there’s nothing sexy about hair loss. However, it’s a big enough problem for women that Rogaine makes a product specifically for us. It’s even available over the counter; no prescription needed. If Naomi’s hair loss is in any way hereditary then this may be an option for her.

Hair Growth Pills
Dr. Doris Day also recommended Viviscal brand vitamins for re-growth after hair loss. Hair loss can have many causes such as the autoimmune condition alopecia. Ms. Campbell should definitely check in with a physician. A dermatologist like Day can help as well as special hair doctors called trichologists.

LaserCap
Barbara found this treatment to be the most ridiculous but Dr. Day swears that it works. The LaserCap treatment for hair loss is costly, but we’re betting that the cover model or her Russian billionaire boyfriend can afford it. Hair loss causes are the same for men and women but there are pattern differences. The LaserCap is a portable low level laser device for thinning hair. The doc says that this cap should be worn daily for 20 minutes indefinitely.

Whether bald, braided, weaved or with a full, gorgeous natural afro, Naomi is still stunning! If you are suffering with any of these issues, please see your own doctor. “The View” is now on Summer hiatus but will be back better than ever in the Fall!

As always, we will be watching.
