The Town House Restaurant – Oviedo, Florida

Dining Guide, Money Magazine, Omelets, Southern Cooking, The Town

After spending my life traveling in the military, I had truly forgotten what good home cooking was like. That was until I settled down in the city of Oviedo, Florida, and discovered the best local diner in town, The Town House Restaurant.

Founded in 1941, the Town House is the city’s oldest local diner. And after just one meal it was easy to see why they have lasted throughout the years. In addition to enjoying some of the best tasting down-home, southern cooking, the friendly atmosphere is a welcome break from dining at chain restaurants.

The Town House has a very extensive menu, with a strong emphasis on breakfast. Diners can enjoy lunch and dinner as well, except on Sundays, they only serve breakfast on Sunday. Voted Best Breakfast in Orlando by the Orlando Sentinel, and 5 Star Top Pick by the ChefMoz dining guide.

My favorite meals are on the breakfast menu, I love omelets, and the Town House Restaurant serves the biggest and tastiest omelets I’ve ever had. Two of my favorites are the Italian Sausage Omelet, and the Bacon Cheeseburger Omelet. Both are served with a generous portion of seasoned homefries and a biscuit; don’t forget to ask for the gravy!

Wait time is minimal after the friendly staff takes your order, less than 10 minutes. When your meal is served, prepare yourself for a tasty heaping piled high on your plate. And drinks are refilled before asking, even on the busiest days. And to top it all off, you won’t go broke paying for that generous and truly delicious meal. The average meal is priced under $9 per person.

If you’re in the Orlando area, it’s certainly worth the short trip to Oviedo to experience the best local diner around. Parking is located on and all around the bright yellow with blue trim property. And though I have never waited more than 10-15 minutes to be seated, I would wait an hour to dine there.

In 2009 and 2010, Oviedo was listed by CNN’s Money Magazine as a “Top 100 Best Places to Live,” and selected by Relocate America as a Top 100 City to Live. The Town House Restaurant is located at the intersection of (State Roads) 426 and 434, smack dab in the middle of Oviedo’s historic downtown.
