The Top Seven Celebrity Weddings in Las Vegas History

Rita Hayworth

In a town famous for shallow depravity what better than a listing of the top seven celebrity weddings?

Here are the top seven celebrity weddings in Las Vegas history!

Elvis Presley & Priscilla Anne Beaulieu May 1, 1967. Elvis was 32 and he wasn’t yet fat. He was already well past his peak as a musical star but at the time he was still reported to be the highest earning music star in the world. Priscilla was only 21 on the day of their wedding. The wedding was a quiet ceremony held at 9 a.m.

Rita Hayworth & Dick Haymes on September 24th, 1953. This was Hollywood actress Rita Hayworth’s third marriage. She was previously married to film legend Orson Welles and Prince Aly Khan. Dick Haymes was a singer. This marriage didn’t last for Rita either. They were divorced two years later.

Kirk Douglas & Ann Buydens on May 28th, 1954. Unlike most Vegas marriages this one has lasted. They are still married today! Many less educated people know Kirk as Michael Douglas’s father. But Kirk Douglas is one of those most successful Hollywood actors. Perhaps his most famous role was as Spartacus in Stanley Kubrick’s “Spartacus.” in 1960. This was Kirk’s second marriage. His prior marriage to Diana Dill produced Michael Douglas.

Britney Spears & Jason Alexander on January 4th, 2004. Unfortunately this is not the Jason Alexander who played George in Seinfeld but instead a childhood friend of Britney’s. Their marriage lasted only 55 hours. An annulment was quickly arranged by her manager and family. Britney had the following to say when asked about this wedding: “Honestly, I really wanted to see what it was like to be married.”

Frank Sinatra & Mia Farrow on July 19th, 1966. This is another in the long line of not so long marriages that were commenced in Las Vegas. Sinatra and Farrow were divorced only two years later. Farrow later went on to have a rather famous relationship with Woody Allen (although they were never married.) In a little bit of Beatles trivia note that the classic Beatles song “Dear Prudence” was written by John Lennon about Mia Farrow’s sister Prudence Farrow.

Judy Garland and Mark Herron in 1965. Herron was the 4th of Garland’s five husbands. Mark Herron was gay. Here’s a strange tidbit of old celebrity gossip. In the early 60s Mark Herron had a gay love affair with Peter Allen who at the time was the boyfriend of Judy Garland’s daughter Liza Minnelli! (They were later married from 1967 to 1972.)

Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra on November 15th, 1998. Dennis Rodman was known as the colorful basketball superstar for the Detroit Pistons and The Chicago Bulls. Carmen Electra was known for being hot. Rodman later claimed that he was drunk at the time of the wedding. Needless to say their marriage did not last.
