For a few years now I’ve heard my siblings go on about cooking, all the latest kitchen equipment and some guy named Alton Brown. I never really understood what they were talking about. Then recently I started taking up cooking and found I actually really enjoyed it. I’ve now discovered the Food Network and I’m completely hooked. I watch it for hours every night. In case you are new to the Food Network also here are the shows that I think are the top five shows on the Food Network.
The Fifth Best Television Show on the Food Network: Unwrapped
I’m a very curious person. When somebody asks a question like, “why do people park on driveways and drive on parkways” I don’t just wonder with them, I look it up. Unwrapped is a great show for me because they “unwrap” secret behind the scenes details about where your food comes from. Plus the host is Marc Summers! The Double Dare Guy! Physical Challenge!
The Fourth Best Television Show on the Food Network: The Next Food Network Star
I’ve been impressed with the Food Network’s reality series so far. The best thing about The Next Food Network Star is they don’t drag the show out to excruciatingly boring lengths. For example, on this week’s episode of The Next Food Network Star the contestants competed in three challenges in one hour-long episode. It was action packed, or at least as action packed as cooking can be. Plus The Next Food Network Star doesn’t have another entire show dedicated to announcing who won. The Net Food Network Star just takes eight minutes at the end to eliminate somebody like it should be done.
The Third Best Television Show on the Food Network: Iron Chef America
Iron Chef America is great. I never knew that cooking could be so intense and exciting but usually Iron Chef America gets me more pumped than most professional sports. The NFL or Iron Chef America? Bobby Flay and Cat Cora or Tom Brady? Alton Brown or…any football announcer? Please, it isn’t even close.
The Second Best Television Show on the Food Network: Ace of Cakes
Ace of Cakes is interesting for several reasons. First I find it fascinating that cake can pretty much be turned into any shape you want. Second, it’s a show about cake. Who doesn’t like cake? Third, the guys on Ace of Cakes, Duff and Geoff, crack me up. On a recent episode of Ace of Cakes Duff wore a kilt all week and hired a bagpipe player to come to the office. Kilts and bagpipes rock.
The Best Television Show on the Food Network: Good Eats
That’s right, I have now discovered Alton Brown and he is the man. If I weren’t already a religious man I would probably worship at the church of Alton. Alton Brown is just a complete genius when it comes to cooking and food. Not only does he know how to make everything but also he knows everything about the food. Where it came from, where it got its name, how much it weighs. Alton Brown probably knows that I ate apple sausage pancakes for breakfast. I don’t know how, but he knows!
