As many of you may be familiar with children often lose their pacifiers. This can be problematic for parents with babies that are quite fond of these plastic apparatuses. You buy half a dozen of them, next thing you know you have only one. You buy more, and are down to just two! Sure, they already have car key locators, you know – you press the button and your keys beep to let you know where they are. How many of you forgot where you parked at the mall and find yourself, beeping your electronic key to find your car? Well, I can’t believe someone didn’t already make an app for this! An app to find your keys, your car, and even the pacifiers. “But how could they do that?” you may ask… simply put a microchip in the item and program the phone to lock on to it as a remote control does for your TV. That is our iPhone app wish list item #1.
Taser! We feel it would be easy and extremely useful to have an app that turns your iPhone into a taser. Why not? Imagine this, there you are walking down a deserted city street at night, out of nowhere a burglar wants to rob you of your cash, or even your iPhone, but instead- finds himself tased with an electric shock while you escape. Nice! The only downside is, you may have to charge the phone more – depending on where you live!
Ok, some people we talked to thought it would be helpful to take the idea of the GPS a step further and focus its ability on the city subway system, take NYC for example, the MTA is constantly changing schedules and service causing passengers to find alternate routes. How great would it be to get live streaming updates to your iPhone telling you exactly which trains to transfer to to get someplace? That’s wish list item #3.
Sometimes it is difficult to multi-task. Sure the iPhone can run several apps at the same time, but can you handle them? You only have two hands and one has the phone, the other the coffee. But what if we can free up one of those hands for you? We’d like to see an app for the iPhone that gives new meaning to “Hands Free” by projecting itself holographically in front of you in mid air at eye level. This way you wouldn’t have to hold it in front of you, you could put it in your shirt pocket and walk down the street with the screen projecting in front of you, or perhaps in your sunglasses if that sounds more practical.
Last is our app wishlist pick number five for the beloved iPhone. This one is geared more to musicians. Okay, you’re a drummer walking down the street, you pass a nightclub playing live music on a Saturday night, out pops a familiar face. It’s your old bandmate who now plays with another band. He calls your name and tells you their drummer didn’t show up to the gig and there is no drum set at the venue. “No problem”, you reply as you pull out your iPhone, “…there’s an app for that!” You load up your virtual drum set and head inside, (you already know the set list). You plug in to the house speaker system and start tapping away. Everyone hears what sounds like loud, powerful drums kicking a fresh beat- but alas it is you sitting on a bar stool tapping the picture of a drum rig on your amazing iPhone. Later you pick up about half a dozen phone numbers from girls at the show and get an offer from a major record label... wait a minute… as of yet, there is no app for that… and come to think of it – the app wishlist has become another wish list altogether!
