It seems today that the average 4-year-old knows more pop music than the traditional songs that I knew when I was a kid. Although I have to admit that I do enjoy listening to High School Musical and Hannah Montana with my daughter, I do miss the classic kids songs that I grew up with. So what happened to them? I’m talking about the songs that weren’t by any particular artist. No matter who was singing it, it was recognizable.
After compiling a list, I was able to come up with 102 songs. Some of the songs you may not be familiar with unless you went to Catholic school like I did. But for those of you who did, I’m sure you’ll remember them.
After reading the list, I’m sure you’ll be surprised of how many of the songs you can actually remember the words to. It’s also a fun idea to make it a game. Get all of your friends together and write the names of the songs on a piece of paper. Each player will pull a paper out of a hat and see who can sing the chorus to that song.
