The Ten Best Songs by Something Corporate

10. Drunk Girl
With a soft piano melody to start off the song that turns into full band play I put this song at number ten. It’s about how a young college kid or high schooler who likes a girl, gets to kiss, and then realizes that she was drunk and the whole thing meant nothing.

9. If You C Jordan
Off their first EP and later the album Leaving Through the Window, If You C Jordan was placed at number nine, a true story about a kid named Jordan who used to bug Andrew McMahon in high school, the song has a catchy tune and is one of my personal favorites. With a strong piano and corresponding guitar it’s easy to get lost in this song.

8. Down
Most people may not put this in the top ten but if you listen to it a couple time it is actually a masterpiece. With the lyrics and the whole tone of the song it’s easy to get lost in on a long night drive. If you listen to it in the right place at the right time it can be perfect.

7. She Paints Me Blue
A song about love and loss. This is about a breakup and how the person in the song has no one to have, aka “she paints me blue. At first I didn’t really like it but the lyrics are well thought of and the piano and long streams of guitar makes it a relaxing song to listen to.

6. Watch The Sky
The secret track on the UK CD of North, it has a different tone then the entire CD, which is probably why it was an extra for only one country. A song about determination, listen to it once and you’ll like it.

5. 21 and Invincible
You could just guess what it’s about by the title. Obviously being 21, discovering a certain beverage, and feeling invincible. A partier’s life in college, one of my most favorite songs to listen to by Something Corporate, it’s an easy simple and catchy tune.

4. Cavanaugh Park
A piano based song for the most part, Cavanaugh Park is one of the more serious songs from the band. When I first heard this song I wasn’t in the happiest mood, feeling a little sad about myself, which is what actually connected me to this song. I placed it at number four because if you can connect to it, you’ll feel exactly like I did. “Some things never do change, never do change…”

3. The Astronaut
A down beat, calm song from the band, this is personally my favorite song from them. I decided it was their third best because the piano and guitar mix blend so perfectly. When you first hear this song you could’ve sworn you’ve heard it before, at least from a movie or TV Show, but surprisingly it hasn’t been anywhere but a track on a CD.

2. As You Sleep
Great, just a great song. Usually it takes one line to suck me in and listen to the song to like it. This song has about 5 remembering lines, the most being in the chorus. Don’t you wake up yet, soon I’ll be leaving you, but you won’t be leaving me.” The music to this song is extremely relaxing to go with the perfect lyrics.

1. Punk Rock Princess
Probably one of their only recognizable hits. I put this at number one as their best song for one reason, because it is. This song helped them achieve international fame, and obviously the song has to be good to do that. The tone of the song is a little different from their other songs, but you can tell they didn’t make it just for radio play. It was featured on their EP Audioboxer and then decided to add it back to their next CD Leaving Through the Window which helped them receive on of their first hits.
