The Pavilion Rooftop Bar in Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston South Carolina

If you’re visiting Charleston South Carolina and looking for a great place to stay, check out The Market Pavilion Hotel. However, if you’re looking for an even better place to eat, then do me a favor and go check out the rooftop bar and restaurant at Pavilion. For dinner, appetizers, drinks, dessert or to just soak up the stunning view and ambiance, there’s really no beating The Pavilion Bar at Pavilion.

With a vexing mess of choices for your hotel dollar and some old reliable names, it’s easy to fall back on the same old choices on your Charleston stay. However if you’re a curious consumer and would like to find a better value for your dining dollar, The Pavilion Bar on the rooftop of The Pavilion Hotel is it.

Step inside their elevators and allow them to whisk you up to the elegant rooftop dining establishment known as The Pavilion Bar. Begin by noticing the elegance of their cascading pool and fountains. Entrenched in lush vegetation and lapping so you feel like you could just splash into it, this scene is just the beginning of your sensory experience.

Watch your first steps as it’s easy to find yourself fallen into the pool that greets you when you first emerge off the elevator! Once you’ve settled your footing, you’ll want to have a look over the edge to the beautiful streets below. Whether it’s gentle sway of the lining palmetto trees, the stately splendor of the ancient mansions, or the beautiful engulfment of the sky which surrounds you, you’ll remember this view for long after you’ve left.

Then grab a seat if you can, either at the bar itself or at any of the surrounding umbrella protected tables that line the poolside and the decks edge. Don’t worry though, while this isn’t a place for children, even the heavily inebriated won’t have any concerns of falling down to the street below. Because the roof is several stories up and the wind at that level may blow people around, The Pavilion has thought of it all and has carefully lined the rooftop with a plexi-shield of thin clear plastic to rebuff the wind and keep everyone safe.

Once you’re seated, you’ll probably want to have a look at the drink menu; that’s no problem at all The Pavilion has a fully stocked and loaded alcohol department with beer, martini’s, a rotating wine list which includes a sampling of reds, whites, sparkling, and champagne as well as a whole host of just about anything else you could want to order that’s a drink. Already the meal tastes great!

Whether you’d like specialty salads, burgers, sandwiches, or appetizers The Market Pavilion has it all. Wasabi tuna with seaweed, Thai shrimp satay, truffled goat cheese, veal quesadilla, and that’s just the appetizers.

I’ve been there three times and I’d go back three more if I’d had the time. Next time you’re in Charleston, South Carolina and the usual fare looks dull and dated, why not hop on over to The Pavilion Rooftop Bar and let my friend Amber, or any of the other fine waitresses and bar tenders take the best care of you the only way they know how, with charming grace and old fashioned Southern Hospitality.
