The Mysterious Neopet Draik: One of Neopia’s Most Sought After Pets!

Tcg

The Draik species at Neopets isn’t the cutest or most cuddly but they are dragon-like in appearance and have a lot of companion items that you can buy through the shops, member stores or receive as Random Events. I have wanted a Draik Egg for a few years now but since I already have four pets I have to make a tough decision as to which one to cut loose before I can even think about buying an egg.

Some of the most coveted items at the website besides the “Draik Morphing Potions” are the “Draik Eggs”. They come in several colors like yellow, blue, green and red and getting one is nearly impossible. What happens when you get one? You hatch it and become the very proud owner of one of the rarest species in Neopia. I have never seen an “Ice Draik Egg” but legend has it that they do indeed exist. The “Draik Eggs” have a rarity rating of 98 and are classified as a food but you definitely do not want to serve one of these as a meal! I would kill to have a Darigan Draik Egg for my Spooky Gallery but I doubt that will ever happen.

The Draik themed morphing potions are always in high demand and if you happen to get one consider yourself very lucky. There are a lot of different varieties of Draik potions but some of the coolest are the Darigan, Starry and Plushie but you can also get them in basic colors like green, red, blue, yellow (just like the Draik Eggs) as well as purple.. The most popular and highest in demand is the “Draik Transmogrification Potion”; the last time I saw one listed on the Trading Post it was selling for over three million NP. I could easily afford one but forking out that much NP on a single potion would just bother me to no end.

I don’t own a Draik (yet) but when I do I plan on buying all the weapons that you can outfit it with. The most ominous is the “Silver Draik Helmet”; if I could find one at a good price I would surely add this to my Spooky Gallery! Other “Silver Draik” battle items include a sword, shield, armour, gauntlets bow and chestplate. The “Golden Drake Boomerang” and “Enchanted Draik Cape” are also two incredible items to have for battle but they aren’t cheap.

Reading books to your pet is a great way to get their intelligence level to go up and there are some pretty cool Draik related books to be had at the site; my all time favorite being “Draik Magic” followed up by “The Velveteen Draik”. Other books include “The Way of the Draik”, “Draik Tales”, “Draik Magic”, “The Draik”, “Draik Secrets”, “Draik Ditties”, “Draik Legends”, “Hatching A Draik Egg” and “Popular Draik Names. Some of these are hard to come by as there are awards given out for most books read. I did try to win one of the Neopian Book Awards but to even qualify you need to have read at least 1,642 books and my oldest pet has only read about 1,110 so I gave up.

As odd as it seems, there are a lot of Draik themed toys to be had at the website; you can get the basic Draik Plushie in blue, red, white, yellow and green or you can go for something a little spookier like the “Ghost Draik Plushie” or the “Cloud Draik Plushie”. There are four different versions of the Wind Up Draik; Shadow, Rainbow, Reject baby and Reject Maraquan. One of the coolest toys to play with is a one time use item, the “Amazing Draik Cracker” contains special items that are revealed only after you opt to give it to your pet to play with. Because it is a one time use item and it disappears the price on them keeps going up. Another cool toy is the “Red Draik Play Set” fashioned after the real world Hasbro and Thinkway series of toys.

Food items are another popular Draik themed item at the site; the Draik Cakes comes in six fun flavors including Chokato, Mint Chocolate, Strawberry and the basic “Sparkling Draik Cake”. Another very cool looking food item is the Draik Lollypop that can be bought in lemon, lime, chocolate or strawberry. One of the grossest looking is the “Blue Cheese Draik Head” but the “Blueberry Jelly Draik Head” and “Raspeberry Jelly Draik Head” are a little more pleasing to the eye. Common, inexpensive food items include “Strawberry Draik Cake”, “Draik Steak” and the “Chocolate Draik Wing”. My quest for the “Basket of Baked Draik Goodies” continues and I will find one!

If you are into collecting the TCG cards you will love the “Draik Sentinel” and the “Draik Skeleton” but you might also like to add “Draik Soldier”, “Silver Draik Egg” and “Tainted Draik” to your online TCG album. Stamps are a popular collectible item but I don’t like the fact that once you add them to your album you can’t remove them. I have a few of them in my Spooky Gallery but would love to get my freaky little hands on the “Draik Guard Stamp” and “Orange Draik Stamp”.

Draik items make for great gifts if you have friends that are into the darker things at the Neopet website. Even though some people look down on the site or say that it’s for kids you would be surprised at the number of adult users that play there on a regular basis. If you’ve never looked into the Draik species I hope you learned a little from this and might consider buying some of the Draik themed items for your pets or gallery.
