As somebody that spends way too much time surfing the Internet, I can vividly remember the first time my email inbox was stuffed with messages about this so-called ugliest dog in the world. I’m talking about the infamous Chinese Crested that was for a long time considered to be the worst-looking of its rare species on the planet. Well, here today we are going to discuss some of the most bizarre breeds of dog roaming around out there and treasured by owners for their unusual and unique traits.
I mentioned the rare Chinese Crested in the opening above and this most bizarre breed of dog is probably considered to be one of the ugliest as well. This is likely to be considered a mean remark but it’s a very common opinion and is pretty much the claim to fame here for the Chinese Crested. They are said to make great pets by those with the honor of having these unusual and unique creatures around their homes. While there are different variations the ones most commonly seen on the Internet and television are the unusual hairless ones.
Next up we are gonna talk about the rare Puli and people this looks like a Jamaican version of the shaggy dog. This bizarre breed of dog literally looks like it’s covered in dreadlocks. This isn’t just a fashion statement there is a good reason and it’s so these animals can stay outside in rough weather. You see the Puli is a considered a herding or livestock guarding breed and this bizarre coat allows them remain dry during heavy rains. Something that makes these unusual and unique animals even more special is that they very athletic and capable of doing some very rare but impressive tricks often seen a dog shows and competitions.
I’m sure most people have heard about the Shar Pei or at least the name so it may not be as rare or even considered a bizarre breed of dog. All the same I feel it’s worth talking about with that unusual and unique appearance that it brings to the table. This breed of dog came about during the ancient Chinese dynasties where they were initially used to herd cattle and protect their owners at home as well. Some people have made the remark that the Shar Pei looks like a Hippo in the face. I can certainly see how someone could see a resemblance between the two animals. The Shar Pei has a smushed up face with rolled up skin or jelly rolls (don’t laugh) around the neck.
These are just a few of the rare pets to be found when talking about the most bizarre breed of dog. I remember one time I ran across a man that had a skinless canine that was striped like a zebra. In all honesty it still puzzles me to this day as to what rare breed it was and where to find another one if they are that unique and unusual. The unusual and unique creature in the picture attached is of the Puli mentioned earlier in the article. You would be amazed what kind of bizarre animals you can find by doing a quick google search online.
