The Legendary Lights at Clifton Mill, Ohio

Each year the small town of Clifton, Ohio lights up and can be seen for miles in every direction. The reason? 3.5 Million Christmas Lights!

Lights ranging from large to small cover the entire property. Outlining buildings, bridges, trees and their famous 100ft “waterfall” of lights! Each visitor young and old will be amazed at the beauty of this historic area during Christmas Season. Don’t let the cold keep you inside either! They offer some great Hot Chocolate for those who are feeling a little chilly. Visitors come back year after year for this display for the lights, but there are so many more reasons to visit!

Santa’s Workshop is a very popular place for the youngsters featuring Mr. Claus himself! Every 15 minutes you can gather around his workshop to see him double check his list before he climbs up his chimney where his trusty Reindeer are waiting for him! Say hello and give him a wave!

Clifton Mill Miniature Village is also a popular spot for all who visit. This large “miniature” village showcases may models of buildings in Clifton, all lite up for you to see. Many of the scenes feature moving objects set in local small town themes.

The Santa Claus Museum features over 3000 items dedicated to the man himself! The collection dates back a far as 1850 and has some very rare, yet very familiar items that everyone can identify with!

The festivities are already underway and are conducted every night until New Years. (Christmas Day being closed of course)!

The gates open each night at 5pm with the lights turned on at 6pm. The Mill closes at 9pm with the lights staying on a half hour past.

More About The Mill:

The historic mill has been in existence since 1803 and powered the cities of Clifton, Cedarville and Yellow Springs from 1908 to 1938.

Although the days of the mill being used as a power source are long gone, the history of the mill is still alive today in many ways.

Located just a few miles from John Bryant State Park, Clifton Mill is a popular hiking destination for campers there. Following the Little Miami River from camp to the edge of town you will see beautiful scenery culminating with Clifton Gorge. Once at the Mill you can take a walk around the property and get a better understanding for how life was back in the early 1900’s with many original buildings for the early 1900’s available to view. The Mill features the Millrace Restaurant, a quite, cozy eating area which serves breakfast or lunch. Visitors can then take a look through the gift shop to purchase items ranging from photos to their famous pancake mix!

Clifton Mill is a relaxing destination any time of the year and is just minutes away from Yellow Springs, The US Air Force Museum, Young’s Jersey Dairy and Dayton, Ohio.
