The History Behind Terry Bradshaw

Florida State University, Lynn Swann

Terry Bradshaw was a good man but his family was poor. He lived on a farm in Shreveport, Louisiana. Every spare moment he had he was throwing a football. Although his dad also took him and his brothers fishing and hunting, he loved to play football. He would play catch with his friends and when no one was around he would throw it on the roof! He tried out for a football team in high school but did not make it. While the team was practicing he chucked the ball down the field next to them hoping that the coach would notice. Right away he wanted Terry on his team. His goal from there on was to eventually make it to the NFL!

As a young child Terry grew up on his farm. He loved throwing footballs and used to even practice by throwing them through hoops. He was not the brightest kid and could never sit still in class. In high school he tried out and failed to make the team. As he practiced off the field the coach saw him and insisted on him joining the team. He did not play that much because of the quarterback already playing. He wanted to go to college to become an engineer, but instead got a lot of football scholarship offers to different colleges. Terry chose LSU to start, but did not feel totally comfortable with his choice. Next, he decided to attend a different college and went to Louisiana Tech, a smaller school. He again did not like this school and was benched. So for the last and final time he chose Florida State University. After playing amazing during his last season, he got drafted to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the worst NFL team at the time.

The next year they signed two of the best players in the NFL, Lynn Swann and John Stallworth. Together, these players and Terry made it all the way to the top. Once again they were in the Super Bowl with the Raiders but this time they beat them for the first Super Bowl win ever! In the following years he did better, winning three more Super Bowls. Five years later he was awarded a trophy and put into the Hall of Fame! He is still known for his many accomplishments today. In fact, today he is a football announcer on post-game and pre-game talk shows! He is still alive today and people still admire what he did.
