The Diseases of Skeletal and Muscular Structures in Human Body

Osteomalacia, Phantom Pain, Rheumatism, Skeletal System

Skeletal system is a bony/cartilaginous supportive framework that gives protection from outer injuries to our body, enhances the strength to softer parts and it is a place for attachments of muscles. Bones and muscles form a lever system. When the muscles contract, they pull on the bones and so bend and tighten the limb or change it forwards and backwards.

There are several diseases those are related with skeletal/muscular system of human body. In maximum cases these diseases occur in the aged people, but in young aged people these diseases are increasing now-a-days. Some of those kinds of diseases are explained below.

SPONDYLITIS :
It is a chronic and developed form of arthritis that affects vertebrae. It is found in a person who keeps bending their necks for several hours during working hours. Physiotherapy or exercises of the affected area may be done to get relief.

GOUT :
The accumulation of uric acid crystals in tissue joints causing inflammation.

SPRAIN :
It is caused due to unusual twisting or forcible tearing off joints. In this case hemorrhage from ruptured blood vessels causes swelling and pain.

BURSITIS :
It is the inflammation of the bursae present within the synovial joints as small membrane bound sockets which hold synovial fluid. It is mainly occurred due to an injury or pressure creating for a long duration on a single joint.

RICKETS IN YOUNG AND OSTEOMALACIA IN ADULTS :
These are caused due to the deficiency of vitamin-D or calciferol in diet. In these cases bones lose their compactness.

OSTEOPOROSIS :
This is the fact of losing the density of bones due to excess absorption of Calcium and Phosphorus from the bones.

RHEUMATISM :
It is caused due to occurring of any pain in the supporting parts of the body like muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, joints etc.

ARTHRITIS :
This is one type of rheumatism where paining occurs in joints. Due to the passing of the byproducts of metabolic disorders through the capillaries of synovial membranes and tip of the bones, and when blood, nutrients or secretions of the synovial fluid is obstructed. Arthritis is of mainly two categories a) Osteoarthritis and b) Rheumatoid arthritis.

OSTEOARTHRITIS :
It is happened when there is any tearing of articular cartilage and growth of bony lumps at parts those cause inflammation, stiffness, and permanent deformity occurs. It begins with the ageing and generally the pressure bearing joints like knee joints and elbow joints are affected due to these problems.

RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS :
It is happened due to the depositions of hard tissues over articlular cartilage along with heavy secretion of synovial fluid causing inflammation and stiffness. It causes detrimental destruction of the joint tissues resulting in extreme deformities by which the affected person turns into totally crippled condition.

DISLOCATION :
It is the displacement of a bone from a joint with dislodging of ligaments, articular capsules, tendons etc. For example, the ball of one bone may slip out of the socket.

LUMBAGO :
It is caused those persons sit constantly for a long time. It is a rheumatic condition which affects the lumbar region of the back side. Free hand exercise and regular walking may cure from this disease.

OSTEITIS :
It is the inflammation of bones causes extreme pain.

OSTEOMYELITIS :
It is the infection of bones causes pain.

OSTEOMYELODYSPLASIA :
It is caused due to the thinning of the osseous tissue of bones and increased area of the bone marrow cavities, with leucopenia and fever.

PHANTOM LIMB PAIN :
It is caused when a person has lost a part of his body by amputation, trauma etc. perceives that the limb is still present and feels sensations coming from that area. It is not generally felt by the children under four years old. The phantom pain may be felt right after the amputation or may be felt after months or year also.
