The Body Shop’s Shea Body Butter is Thick and Luxurious

Body Shop, The Body Shop

Once upon a time there was a very evil woman who happened to be a Body Shop rep. This evil woman found a weakness in the poor innocent Blonde and sent her some delicious samples of her products knowing full well that her target would not be able to resist. This rep was much like a drug dealer, wasn’t she? One of the items sent was this delightful Shea Body Butter. The poor Blonde has now sought out Body Shop stores in Sweden and purchased more of the stuff. Ayeeeeeeeeeeee!

I like my body lotions to be thick. Really, I like my lotions to be umm butters, which are not really lotions at all, are they? They are butters. Now that we’ve established what an airhead I am, I’ll tell you that I am the queen of all things softening… especially if they contain either Shea or Cocoa. This one, of course, contains Shea. I bet you guessed that by the name, eh? You probably already figured out that it is, indeed, a butter.

Butters are very thick concoctions. In my mind, thick = gooood… and just not with men. Lotions just don’t seem to do the job that butters do. I mean, I live in Sweden and the weather here is dry, even when it’s covered in snow. My skin just doesn’t like that very much and requires daily slatherings of something luxurious. Shea is one of the best hydrating agents out there. My skin simply adores Shea for that reason.

This particular butter just glides on like a dream. You would think by looking at them and feeling the heavy texture that butters would be a chore to rub in. That’s not so. This is very easily absorbed into my skin and has an immediate impact. I will admit that this one has an ever-so-slight waxy feel to it, but not overly so. While I’m at home, this is desirable, because that helps to protect my skin while I’m out and about.

As far as the scent goes, I could use a bit more of that heavenly Shea smell in this. It is a bit more subtle than I like, but I can deal with that. If I plan to wear perfume that day, this is a plus. I mean, it does have a scent, it is just very subdued. Again, that can be either a plus or a minus depending on my mood on any given day.

I said I also like Cocoa in my creams and what-have-you. Guess what. This also has that. Double Score! The thing with Cocoa butter is that it melts at body temperature and leaves you feeling absolutely silky.

The combination of both Shea and Cocoa butter is a real winner. It makes me feel downright pretty, I tell you. This baby also comes in two sizes, so I keep the small 1.7 oz size ($8) in my travel kit, and keep the big 6.9 oz size ($16) at home next to my computer where I can reach up and rub it in whenever I get the urge.

I would like to give this one 5 stars, but… well ok look here… the scent thing is double-edged, as is the slight waxy feeling. I do not always want that so keep other creams around also, but yanno, at home in the dry wind this is good and like I said with the scent, some days I want to wear perfume so that is also not something I should detract stars over. Five stars it is then for The Body Shop’s Shea Body Butter. I just wish we had those big sales over here right now like the US stores are having…
