The Best WWE John Cena Matches

Former WWE Champion John Cena held his title for over a year and in the course of that time and years before it Cena has put on many classic bouts for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He faced a lot of the WWE roster and here is a look at some of his best matches.

Wrestlemania XX– Cena made an appearance at Wrestlemania XIX, but he just free styled and did not wrestle at the event. Wrestlemania XX marked his first Wrestlemania in ring debut where he went up against the Big Show for the United States championship. Cena was impressive and wowed fans by hoisting the Big Show up and delivering his finisher, the FU, to the massive wrestler for the win.

Vengeance 2005– With the Smackdown and Raw Draft in full effect, Cena was brought over to Raw and immediately placed in a title match. This match was a triple threat, pitting Cena up against Chris Jericho and Christian for the title. This was a fast paced match that saw great back and forth action between all the competitors, but ultimately Cena succeeded and retained his title.

Wrestlemania 22– Triple H was out of action for a while and upon his return he immediately set his sights on regaining the World Championship from John Cena. They headlined Wrestlemania 22 and this match was full of hype. From elaborate entrances to a mixed reaction from the crowd, this match has classic written all over it. With a lot of false finishers, Cena finally forced Triple H to tap, and rematch is eventual someday.

Unforgiven 2006– Throughout the whole year of 2006, Edge and John Cena battled back and forth in a bitter feud with Edge coming out on top and reclaiming the WWE Championship from Cena. Now Cena had to fight on Edge’s terms and in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. They beat each other senseless and after putting Edge through three tables with an FU off the top of a ladder Cena once-again reclaimed his championship and started his year-long run.

Royal Rumble 2007– Cena is always put into challenges where he must overcome the odds, like matches against the Great Khali or Big Show, and he has to do the same thing in his short feud with Umaga. Their final battle was at the 2007 Royal Rumble in a Last Man Standing match. These two battled through announcer’s tables, around the ring, and even took it apart at one point. Cena had to use the ring ropes to finally choke out Umaga and win the match.

WWE Raw: April 2007- Like most of Shawn Michael’s matches at Wrestlemania, their Wrestlemania 23 match was a classic, but does not compare to their nearly one hour match on an April episode of WWE Raw. Just a few weeks after Wrestlemania, where Cena retained his title, they had a non-title rematch where nobody knew when it was going to end. After over a hour of top-notch wrestling Michaels connected a super kick to Cena’s jaw and got the victory. Cena may have lost, but the match was incredible and one of WWE Raw’s best.

When John Cena returns from his injury, he will definitely put on more classic matches, but for now there are all of these ones to enjoy.
