The Best Sushi in Spokane, WA

Bento Box

Spokane, Washington may not be located on the coast, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find fresh and tasty sushi here. Whether you are looking for top-notch sashimi or maybe a unique sushi roll, there are sushi restaurants in town that can cater to your wants and needs.

Sushi.com is a place with a silly name but wonderful food. The menu has two whole pages of roll options, such as the California roll with crab and avocado, and the spicy tuna roll with a deliciously tangy sauce. They have also come up with some regional options, such as the Montana roll filled with fish and tempura shrimp, then topped with spicy sauce and baked mozzarella cheese. You can order the Chef’s choice platter of chirashi sushi (a rice bed underneath a topping such as fish or eel) and be surprised by whatever the sushi chef decides to give you. This can include tuna, clam, or even eel. You can also order the chirashi sushi by individual items, such as the unagi (barbecue eel) and the tamago (sweet egg). If sushi isn’t your favorite thing to eat, there are other options available at Sushi.com. Their yakisoba noodles are made fresh to order, and their sukiyaki pot comes hot and full of steak, tofu, and vegetables. The waitresses are very friendly here, and most are Japanese, so you feel like you are getting an authentic experience. You can sit at a table or at the sushi bar and watch master chef’s at work.

If you would like a little extra atmosphere while you are chowing down on your sushi, Raw Sushi & Island Grill could be just the place you are looking for. Aside from their traditional rolls such as the Spider with tempura crab, roe, and cucumber, you can try one of their specialty rolls such as the Kamikaze with tuna, salmon, avocado, and spice sauce. But sushi isn’t the only thing on the menu at Raw. They like to mix some Asian style with some island tastes to come up with dishes such as Spam Musubi with teriyaki glazed Spam and steamed rice, and Kalua Pork Quesadillas. They also offer a full drink menu with unique mixed drinks to serve just about every palate. As great as the food is at Raw, what you really go for is the party atmosphere. There is live music on a regular basis, as well as karaoke nights and special event parties.

Okane on the Hill is a more mellow sibling of Raw. They have a wide selection of sushi rolls, as well as different cooked entrée options. You can sit at a table or in a booth, or even at the sushi bar if you would like to watch the chefs at work. This is a small place but worth it if you are looking for something a little more romantic and laidback. Sushiyama also has fabulous sushi, but the best thing to come here for are the bento box lunches. You get an entrée such as teriyaki chicken or tempura vegetables, as well as several side options. You can even get a sushi roll to go along with the cooked food. Its fun and gives you a nice variety if you head there at lunch. Just don’t try to go their on Wednesdays because they are closed to go fish shopping.

Spokane may not be a large city but that doesn’t mean you can’t find delicious sushi here. Whether you are looking for an authentic sushi experience, or want a place to eat your meal surrounded by a party, you can find that in this inland northwest city.
