The Best Dirt Bike Trails in Oregon

Bike Shops, Safety Gear

The Deschutes River bike trail is located in Bend, Oregon. This trail is known as one of the most beautiful rides and is made for all ages and all levels. The ride can last from 17 miles up to 30 miles but it is advised if you are a beginner to stop at the 17 mile mark because after that you are going to come onto some rough terrain that is at more of an intermediate to advanced level. This trail follows the Deschutes river with views of the waterfalls and rapids along the way. The ride is smooth and one of the most scenic trails in Oregon. The bike trail used to be an old railroad bed so it is wide enough for your whole family to ride side by side and have a casual day out. If you are a beginner make sure that you always have the correct safety gear. Bring lots of water on this ride because it is a long one. The locals of Bend recommend this trail above all others due to the scenery and views, the easy ride, and the experience.

If you are an advanced dirt biker then Gales Creek is going to be one of the most exciting rides in Oregon. This trail is located just outside of Portland and is a seven mile ride full of places to do tricks and terrain to keep you challenged. If you are on this trail it is advised that you take maps and a GPS system. It is easy to get caught up on this trail, lose your way, and not know how to get back. There is parking at the beginning of the trailhead and a warning to make sure that you are well equipped with your safety gear and plenty of water. The bike shops do not recommend this trail to any riders who have not been riding for a very long time. If you do brave this trail and make it to the bridge there are some waterfalls to the left of the bridge that are a stunning sight and a great place to rest. If you skip the falls and go to the right then you should prepare yourself for a grueling and challenging ride. The best thing about his trail is that you can map your own route with the map that is located at the beginning of the trail.

Located in Falls City. This trail is the first sanctioned free ride area in Oregon. The trail is filled with fun jumps, drops, ladder rides and stunts that only an advanced rider should attempt. The terrain is rough and challenging. This is a six mile ride that is sure to wear even the advanced rider out with all of the stunts located on the trail. The good thing about this trail is there is space where you can go around the jumps and not have to maneuver yourself over them if you simply can not do them. You should never attempt this ride without safety gear, water, and a brave soul. You should make sure you are very experienced before attempting this and even then you need to be very careful on this path. The bike shops know this path as one of the most challenging paths in Oregon and do not recommend this path to many people unless they know that they have been riding and are accomplished riders with lots of experience. If you are an advanced rider and choose to ride this trail parking is right after the “Camp Tampawingo” sign and to the right. Many people make the mistake of driving in the gate and you should never do this because there are motorcycle paths located beyond the gate and you co not want to cause injury or harm to any bike riders that are riding in there.
