Welcome to the second part of this two part series involving the game of Assassin. As you have all read previously, the game requires much skill and strategy to become the known elite, or in some cases, lots of luck. In part two, I will write of advice and strategies I have come to learn from experience.
Light, heavy, or stealth?
Many times, you have to question yourself. Are you going to go with a combo of a light squirt gun with two water balloons? Or are you going to carry a small water gun concealed in your pocket? Or perhaps you might be willing to bring the whole package? You also have to consider your defensive and offensive potentials for using these three combinations.
Light firepower
Advantage: If you use this tactic, usually you are going in for a blitz, or lightning strike, where you as the assassin are attempting to rush the target, catching him or her by surprise. This is recommended as many times, the target is caught unawares. Light firepower means enough power to take on a small force, as well as providing the range needed to soak the target without having to walk right up to the target themselves.
Disadvantage: With light firepower, if someone decides to hunker down in their garage or elsewhere with heavy firepower, you will be outranged and outgunned. You simply will not have enough water either to soak them with if there is a long firefight.
Heavy firepower
Advantage: You are able to outshoot and outrange your target. This category of weaponry includes very big and heavy water guns, many water balloons, to the garden hose. Basically, it is going to be very hard to kill you, and very easy for you to kill your target or assassin.
Disadvantage: Of course, having the strongest weaponry is not necessarily the best all the time. You will be put at a disadvantage with the sluggish speed of the weapon because of its weight and size. Even more so, even though the garden hose has by far the greatest range, its mobility is limited to the length of the hose.
Stealth
Advantage: If you choose this tactic, it is crucial that you obviously use ‘stealth,’ otherwise you’re screwed. Stealth weapons include disguised weapons such as water bottles, or concealed small arms. The obvious advantage is that you will be able to get up close to the target, and almost guarantee a close range kill. You assume that the target does not know who you are, and will be caught completely surprised. Basically, you are depending on catching the target unaware so much that they will not have enough time to react to the kill.
Disadvantage: If your identity is compromised, you will have almost no firepower to retaliate with. Your only option is to basically run for your life.
Getting to know your target
Usually, you will not know your target due to the randomness of pairing people up on the master list. So you will need to do some “research” on your target. Typically, this “research” includes their home address, their workplace, and their schedule. Creepy as this sounds, you have to be reminded that this is only a game. You can do this by having spies keeping their ears open for you, stalking, going to workplaces, or camping out at their house. Without researching, you need a lot of patience as you’ll be wasting most of your time looking for the person randomly without any direction. Or you just might get lucky and see them walking down the street…highly unlikely but still plausible.
Tip off
With all the back alliances that take place in the game, it is almost certain that with a circle of spies, you will be able to find out valuable information. Keeping your own ears and eyes open is important, as you’ll be surprised by what you hear just listening in on conversations.
Stalking
Yes, the most disturbing of all research tactics. I personally don’t recommend this one as you just feel downright weird following the person from place to place. Besides the obvious, this tactic is also very time consuming and tedious. The majority of the time, you will be worried to death that the target knows that you are following them, and are making sure that you are hidden.
Workplace
If you know their workplace, this is one of the most valuable information you can receive. With the workplace schedule, you will know when they are leaving and coming back to their house, which allows you to make the kill in the closed in space of their garage.
Talk to them or befriend them
This is a very hard tactic, as most people that are in the game are naturally suspicious and paranoia that everyone is out to assassinate them. But if you are able to pull this off, this is the most valuable tactic that you can use. You will be able to hang out with them, and have a chance to assassinate them almost every day and night. Yes, I have seen friends assassinate their own friends in their own house.
Making the kill
There are an infinite number of ways to kill your target, from the most basic approaches, to increasingly creative ways of assassination. This is the highlight of the game, as this is where all the planning leads to action. The results always have the chance of being unpredictable, adding a thrill of risk to the game.
Drive bys
Hard to pull off, but guaranteed a quick getaway. You have to coincidentally bump into your target or know where your target is going to be at a given moment. Usually, range and timing are an issue. The sidewalk is pretty far away from the car, and if you’re lucky enough so that the road gets you close enough to your target, your target will pretty much hear a car sneaking up behind them.
Blocking the driveway
This tactic is the best, as there is a good chance that the attempt will end in the target being assassinated, or end up in a long standoff in which you are outside, free to roam while your bodyguards keep watch, while the target is blockaded in their own car. Everything needs to be executed with precision accuracy as if you pull this stunt too late, they’ll be able to get inside the safe haven of their own house. If they notice something out of place, you’ll scare them away from driving into their driveway. But pull it will accuracy, and you’re almost guaranteed a kill.
Stake out
You need a LOT of patience with this one. Some days, the target shows up after one minute of waiting. On other days, the target doesn’t even show up at all. With this, you don’t need to follow the person, or look up their schedule. All you have to do is consider the landscaping of the front of their house. Pick a good hiding spot, and wait for them to show up.
The Elite
The ones who make it to the top twenty are considered the elite assassins. By either pure skill or pure luck, they have managed to survive the majority of the game without being assassinated. They are patient, their assassinations executed with precision accuracy, the kill lightning fast, their sources wide and far, tactics and strategies combined into the perfect assassin.
