The Areas on Oahu, HI Where Your Favorite Movies and TV Shows Were Filmed

Oahu, Tv Show Lost

The island of Oahu, Hawaii is filled with gorgeous beaches, amazing scenery, and beautiful flowers. You can see Pearl Harbor, go to Luaus and do all sorts of fun different things. But there are quite a few famous areas that you can go and check out on the island that you may recognize from certain TV shows and movies. You can take some great souvenir pictures at these spots.

Coconut Island, Mokuloe, is located in Kaneohe Bay which is on the east coast of Oahu. This is the island that you see during the beginning theme of the second and third season from the show Gilligan’s Island. You can also see the boat harbor right before you head out to the island. This was also in the opening theme. The rest of the show was actually filmed at CBS Studios in Studio City, California. There are places that give boat rides and tours of Coconut Island. It is a fun tour to take and the island is very beautiful.

Ka’a’awa Valley is located on the East Shore of Oahu. This valley is famous for quite a few famous movies. The one it is known the most for is Jurassic Park. The other movies that were filmed in the Valley were Godzilla, Mighty Joe Young and Tears of the Sun. Also filmed there was the famous TV show LOST. The ATV tours will take you through the beautiful valley. If you have seen Jurassic Park the spot will look really familiar to you.

For all you LOST fans, you can see the crash site of Oceanic Flight 815 on Mokule’ia Beach. This is where the show started out and where we first see the 48 crash survivors. So that beach will look familiar to you. But the majority of the show was filmed at the Ka’a’awa Valley location.

Right in the Ka’a’awa Valley is the Hale Ka’a’awa Ranch. This house is also popular in many films. It is the best known for Adam Sandler’s movie 50 First Dates. You get a beautiful view of the valley from this location. The ranch was also in the movie Pearl Harbor.

Hukilau Café located at 55-662 Wahinepe’e Street is also a famous location on Oahu. This Café was made famous also by the movie 50 First Dates. Adam Sandler can be seen here in the movie a few times grabbing a bite to eat or getting advice from a friend. The Café serves awesome pancakes for breakfast. Throughout this Adam Sandler movie, you can also see many scenes of the ocean, Oahu’s beautiful beaches, and other areas of Oahu.

You would be surprised to know that the movie Pearl Harbor with Ben Affleck was actually mostly shot at San Pedro and Long Beach. But some of the air scenes are shot in Hawaii so they can get the view of the island. You will recognize areas of the island throughout some of the scenes.

Blue Crush has some amazing scenes of the North Shore of Oahu. This film takes place on the North Shore and is about a couple of girls that love to surf and have a dream of surfing in Hawaii. So they head to the North Shore to live out their dreams. The waves are perfect and the scenery is even better. You will recognize the North Shore beaches in this movie.

And of course don’t forget about the original Hawaii series of Hawaii Five-O. The famous line “Book ’em Danno,” came from this show. The series went from 1968-1980, so it is a little older, but you can still recognize some of the areas of the island throughout the shows. Also some of Oahu’s famous waterfalls can be seen in a few of the shows also.

There was also many other TV shows and movies that have been filmed here. These are just a few of my favorites. So before you go to Oahu, watch these movies again and make sure you search out Oahu to see if you can find where the locations are. A few of them like the Ka’a’awa Valley you have to pay to take the ATV tour of the famous area. Also the boat trip to Coconut Island costs a small fee. But the others you are on your own. They are free. Plus you get to see a lot of different places on the Island.

Also all the spots make for some beautiful pictures, especially the Valley area. The background and just overall the whole Valley is just gorgeous. And they have added some fun signs and props to the areas that the films were shot at. So you can take some really neat pictures to show family and friends. It is well worth taking the Valley tour. One is 3 hours and one is 5 hours. Take the 5 hour one. It gives you a lot more time to explore each area. I heard that there isn’t enough time and you don’t get to see everything in the 3 hour tour. It is a great way to spend an afternoon on Oahu.
