Tea Tree Oil Vs. Neosporin

Natural Alternatives, Neosporin, Tea Tree, Tea Tree Oil

Chemical substances such as medications, cleaning supplies and processed foods are constantly being under a watchful eye of medical scientists for causing negative health affects and other complications to the human body. For this exact reason, people are turning towards natural alternatives for a healthier, greener lifestyle.

My newest natural alternative phenomenon comes straight from Australia. It is called Tea Tree Oil and has been found to do the same as calamine lotion and Neosporin. A few years ago I was looking for a natural alternative to cure (or help out) and treat a cyst that has been known to grow and decrease every few years. It was a spot that momentarily has been cured numerous times by using chemical ointments prescribed by a professional or advised with over-the-counter ointments. Thankfully I came across a natural medicine website that had a few articles that mentioned Tea Tree Oil and found out that it could be my cure for this cyst and for so much more.

Once I found out about this natural ointment I immediately contacted one of my girlfriends from Australia. She later explained that this tea tree oil is noted for having been used for years where she lives in New South Wales, Australia. In fact for many years, tea tree oil has been used as an antifungal and antiseptic. Although tea tree oil has been used for years as one of the only natural antiseptics there is still more research to uncover all the amazing miracles this ointment can do. Recent ongoing studies are now being conducted at The University of Western Australia.

After reading about tea tree oil on the internet, I went to support our local natural food store and found two forms of tea tree oil. These two forms were a clear liquid form and also a “putty like” ointment. Each form of tea tree oil suggested applications to be applied three times a day. Seeing that I wanted the freedom to place more medicine on throughout the day while away from the house, I chose the ointment. My local health food store owner mentioned that the two forms of tea tree oil work about the same, only the application process is different.

When I returned home, I applied my first application and was surprised with the results. At first I expected for tea tree oil to smell like green tea. After my purchase though I found out the tea tree oil is not the same leaves from a green tea bush as those used for green tea drinks. Rather tea tree oil has no scent and can be applied without anyone smelling the medicine on you at all.

The results did take a few days longer than expected however the tea tree oil worked wonders and my cyst has not reoccurred. Even though my results took longer, it worked better than chemical based ointments. In addition, the ointment reduced swelling on the spot unlike other ointments.

To further my surprise with this natural miracle ointment, I have tried it on different problems such as acne inflammation, insect bites and even cuts/bruises. Each and every time I use tea tree oil, I am surprised at the overall results compared to Neosporin and Calamine lotion. Tea tree oil does take a little longer for cuts/bruises but it reduces inflammation much faster and more efficient than other chemical based brands on the market. It is a natural alternative to many different chemical medications without worry of reactions or chemicals being absorbed into the body.
