Switching Perfumes: Choose Dior’s Dolce Vita

Dior, Dolce Vita

Why is it that when males cannot figure out what to buy the woman in their life, they resort to perfume? Do we stink or something? At least the man sorta does pay attention though. He noticed enough to remember that I had bought my latest mascara from the Dior line, so when he resorted to a perfume purchase, he went with Dior, figuring that was a safe bet. It was. He didn’t stop with one though.. no. He bought 5. Actually what he bought was a nifty little travel set with five minis, because he also noticed my complaining that my bottle of Duende was a pain due to taking up too much space in my make up case. I love my Duende, but when you travel as much as we do, size matters. My favorite perfume of the Dior line is the Dolce Vita.

The other scents in this set are Addict, Pure Poison, Dune, and J’Adore, so those are what I am comparing the Dolce Vita to.

Of the 5, I have come to like this Dolce Vita the best. One of the silly reasons for this is that some of the caps on these mini bottles are hard for me to get off. I have RA/Lupus, depending on which doctor you ask, so easy-open bottles are a big factor for me. This one is the easiest. But that is not the only reason. I really love the smell of this one.

Now, Dolce Vita has been around for about 10 years, having made it’s appearance in 1995. There is a good reason why it remains popular. The stuff just smells luxurious.

What I get: a vanilla scent (which is one of my all around favorites) along with sandalwood (another fave), cinnamon, and some kind of florals to feminize it. It’s a great combination. It’s very romantic without being cloying or over-bearing.

What they say: CHRISTIAN DIOR created DOLCE VITA in 1995. It is the result of the following top fragrance Notes: lily, magnolia and rose. The middle notes are: apricot, peach and cinnamon and the base of the fragrance is: sandalwood amber and vanilla. DOLCE VITA is recommended for evening use. (perfumania.com)

Another plus is that this one tends to last the longest of the 5 Dior scents. Not by a long margin, mind you, but a little longer nonetheless. I put it on in the morning and can still detect a nice slight wisp of fragrance come evening.

As with all perfumes, how it reacts with your own body chemistry is crucial. So I can only speak for myself when I say that Dolce Vita is a full 5 stars worth of heaven. I still like my Duende a great deal, but it’s now tying with this one for the top favorite. It’s worth the $50US for 1.7oz… Give it a try. Me, I already bought the bigger bottle now, and am hoping to find matching lotions and shower gels…
