Sweet 16 Birthday Party Themes

Sweet Sixteen is often one of the key highlights in a young girl’s life. Celebrating becoming a young woman with friends and family can be a major deal with many sixteen year old girls. However choosing a sweet sixteen birthday theme can sometimes be difficult depending on the time of year it is and what you and your parents agree upon can also be a major issue. Here are just a few ideas on party themes for the Sweet Sixteen of a lifetime:

• Black and White Ball- For a classy formal or semi-formal party the black and white ball is the party theme for you. This is also one of the simplest parties to plan. Invitations are easy and can be found as almost any party supply store. Invitations such as tuxedos, black or white dresses, or anything black and white will do. For decorations choose a location where the room is already painted either black or white. Hang white and black tissue paper and balloons throughout the roof. Decorate each table either black or white. Cakes can be purchased anywhere cakes are made just be sure that you implement your theme into the cake. Be sure to state that this is a black and white ball in your invitation and that everyone is to either dress formal or semi-formal the choice is yours. To add a little something extra try implementing red into the black and white. This can be done by using red roses as centerpieces. With this little touch of red you can now stand out by choosing to dress in a red dress instead of black and white!

• Candyland- This is one of the best parties for a Sweet 16 but will ultimately be a little more on the expensive side. For invitations I suggest buying either boxes of chocolate or huge lollipops and sticking the invitations to the candy. For decorations use multi-colored streamers and balloons all around the room. Tables should be decorated with colored tablecloths. For an easy centerpiece I suggest using big round vases and filling them with a variety of candy. Food should include anything sweet and tasty. Cupcakes, brownies, cookies, candy, and how about a cotton candy maker? This party will be sure to be talk of the town!

Masquerade Ball- This is also another fun way to celebrate turning sixteen but can also be on the expensive side. Invitations can be found at your local party supply store. Masquerade masks would be the best for the invitations if available. Dress code should be strictly enforced. No mask no party! You may also want to purchase a few extra to leave by the door for those who may forget. Be sure that guests understand to dress in classy attire not Halloween attire. Food can be simple as cheese and crackers, sandwich platters, and fondue stands or have it catered! For fun decorations visit stores like Party City or visit them at www.partycity.com they have everything to offer when it comes to decorations for Masquerade Balls!
