The kids are out of school in the summer and want to go everywhere and do everything, but what about the adults? The adults deserve some fun down time as well. Summer is a great time, especially in New Jersey, to get outdoors and enjoy yourself. Here are some places where the adults can have fun during the summer months.
Martell’s Tiki Bar on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant is a place that you can party from early in the day into the night. The views of the ocean are unhindered and beautiful. They offer live entertainment on certain dates and times, have good food and drinks, and a dance floor that can get crowded even in the afternoon. Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson isn’t just for the kids. Adults can have a great time there too just by themselves. Some children are too young to go on some rides that parents want to go on and sometimes adults just want to feel like kids without their kids being around. This is a great place to bring out your inner child. They also have concerts, a safari, and plenty of other things to keep you busy.
Spirit Cruises, which departs from Weehawken, has various dinner cruises and lunch cruises. They offer a large amount of food, beautiful scenery and live entertainment. The views of the skyline are absolutely beautiful. Some of the sites you will currently see from the ship include the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Historic Smithville and Village Green is a beautiful little area with a lot to do. They frequently have events and the have numerous little shops to go to. There are currently two places that you can stay at if you choose to stay overnight. Several places to eat dot the area, whether it be for food or candy.
Keep an eye out for different antique fairs, garage sales and flea markets all over the area. Currently, the Meadowlands Flea Market at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford is open every Saturday from 8am until 3pm. They currently offer free admission and free parking. Flea markets, garage sales and antique fairs are a great place to find interesting items and get great deals.
Cape May is a beautiful place to visit. They have a large amount of places to eat and shop. There are plenty of ghost tours, outdoor activities and plenty of beautiful scenery. The historic houses are stunning and most of the places to stay are exquisite. Even visiting Cape May for a day will leave you feeling completely relaxed.
Going to the racetrack is another great outing for adults. There are three racetracks to choose from, so no matter what part of New Jersey you live in, there is a racetrack located relatively near you. In north New Jersey there is Meadowlands Racetrack which is located in East Rutherford. In central New Jersey there is Freehold Raceway located in Freehold and towards the southern part of New Jersey there is Monmouth Park Racetrack which is located in Oceanport.
If you love beer or wine and always wanted to make your own, The Brewer’s Apprentice, Inc., currently located in Freehold, offers you the ability to do it on their premises. You can also add various flavors to the beer if you choose, however, it must be stated when you call if this is something you are interested in doing. Parents need alone time with each other. As important as it is to spend time with each other as a family, the parents are the core of the family.
