Stonyfield Farm YoBaby Organic Baby Yogurt: One of My Favorite Baby Foods

Baby Product Review, Stonyfield, Stonyfield Farm, Toddler Nutrition

When choosing nourishment for a baby, parents want it to be the best and what’s better for baby than organic baby food? A baby’s stomach is very sensitive, so the less preservatives and harmful chemicals that are in the product, the better. Healthy babies are happy babies, in my opinion. YoBaby Organic Baby Yogurt is one of my favorite organic foods for babies.

Ingredients of Stonyfield Farm YoBaby Organic Baby Yogurt

According to the Stonyfield Farm website, the Simply Plain flavor of YoBaby Yogurt contains Cultured Pasteurized Organic Whole Milk, Pectin, and six live active cultures. For those of you who are unaware, pectin is a sugar derived from fruit. This is likely the ingredient used as a sweetener or flavor enhancer. YoBaby Yogurt also comes in six fruit flavors.

Nutrition & Benefits of Stonyfield Farm YoBaby Organic Baby Yogurt

Unlike some yogurts, YoBaby yogurt does not contain artificial colors or flavors, which is a huge plus for many when feeding a baby. Live active cultures are important to the immune system and YoBaby yogurt is also a good source of protein and calcium. I’m not a huge fan of the amount of sugar contained in this product. However, with six live active cultures, there are still important health benefits from eating this yogurt.

Using Stonyfield Farm YoBaby Organic Baby Yogurt

Firstly, I should warn you that Yo Baby Organic Baby Yogurt is best for babies that have been accustomed to eating other solids. This is not a good product to start with introducing solids to baby. Babies should be at least 9-12 months old before introducing yogurt into their diet. Your child’s pediatrician should also be consulted with first, as each individual will have varying dietary needs.

Once you have decided to introduce yogurt into baby’s diet, following the advice above, feel free to experiment. If you are serving this to a toddler, try dipping banana slices, soft baby cookies, or other soft and physician-approved foods in the yogurt. Many toddlers will find this to be a real treat. Yogurt is also a good snack food all on its own or even a dessert.

Once your child is beyond the baby and toddler stage, try serving yogurt as a dip for favorite fruits like apples and oranges or as part of your child’s snack or lunch. YoBaby yogurt is also nutritious for children and adults of all ages, so feel free to continue using YoBaby yogurt throughout your child’s life. It can also be used in any recipe asking for yogurt, and as mentioned above, it comes in a variety of flavors.

The texture of this yogurt is slightly different than some other yogurts, but it has no bearing on flavor or recipe use.

Cost of Stonyfield Farm YoBaby Organic Baby Yogurt

This product comes in in a six-pack and is usually priced between $4 – $5 per six-pack of 4oz containers. I have never had a child refuse the taste of YoBaby products, therefore I feel this is a good value when combining that factor with the organic and nutritional benefits.
