Start a Weight Loss Blog to Lose Weight

Starting a weight loss blog is an excellent tool to help you lose weight. It keeps you accountable for what you do, what you eat, how you live your life. With the whole world watching (well, maybe not the whole world) you will feel a need to succeed! Here are some tips to get you started:

Get your blog: If you have your own website you can simply devote a few pages to your blog. If you don’t have a website, there are plenty of sites out there that offer free blogs. Blogger is free and easy to use. You can be up and running in no time!

Start a weight chart: You will need to record your weight every week to keep on track. Start a simple weight chart on your blog and post your weekly weigh-ins.

Start an exercise chart: Starting an excercise chart will get you motivated to exercise. You can have any kind of excercise chart you want. Even if your chart includes simple tasks like “dusted the walls” that’s exercise! You moved and it’s better than just sitting on the couch.

Take photos: You should take some before photos and post them to your blog. Now is not the time to be shy! You want everyone to see where you started so your after pictures wil be more impressive. Post new photos each time you lose 10 pounds so you can see the difference. It will keep you motivated to keep losing.

Set goals: Set mini goals and a long term goal. If you have a lot of weight to lose you can set mini goals of 10 pounds. Each time you reach a 10 pound loss annouce it to your blog readers with the same enthusiasm you would have if you won a nice chunk of money. Reaching mini goals are a great accomplishment and should be celebrated.

Blog about what you eat: It may help you to keep a daily food diary on your blog. If daily is too much, try to at least write your food plan… and stick to it!

Blog about your life: Anyone who needs to lose weight usually understands that weight problems have more to do with life than with actual food. So write about your life and express yourself. Use the blog as a form of therapy!

Find an audience: Getting people to read your blog will surely help you along your journey. Tell your family and friends to read your blog and ask them if you can email them a weekly reminder to view your updates. Also connect with other weight loss bloggers. They will become your biggest supporters.

Blog often: Don’t start a blog then just let it sit there. Write often. Try to write a little bit every day. The more you write the more you will start to open up and the more readers you will attract. Blogging will soon become a very important part of your day (and often your night).

Blog instead of binging: Feel a binge coming on? Don’t know where to turn for help? Blog! Always go to your blog and write about how you feel in the moment. Blog before you eat. Blog after you eat. Was it worth it? Be honest! The more honest you are the more you will learn about yourself. Eventually you will be able to stop a binge just by blogging before you lose control.
