Spring Birthday Party Ideas for Kids

Party Ideas for Kids, Silk Plants

Every child loves a birthday party. A spring birthday party can be a lot of fun. The weather is starting to warm up, and some activities can be taken outside. Here are some fun ideas that you can use for hosting a birthday party in the spring.

Park Birthday Party

With the weather getting warmer, why not have a birthday party in the park? Kids can keep entertained while playing on the playground equipment. There is plenty of space to throw balls, play relay games, and have races. One year, my daughter went to a birthday party at the park where they rented a bounce house. You can serve cake and ice cream at picnic tables, and open presents while sitting on the grass.

If the weather is still a little temperamental where you live, you may want to consider having a backup plan, especially if the park doesn’t have any covered areas. If the weather is nice, the park can be a fun place to hold a birthday party.

Scavenger Hunt

If you’re going to have a spring birthday party, why not hold a scavenger hunt as an activity? On a nice spring day, the kids will love going outside to search for scavenger hunt items, and it will keep them busy. You can always go inside for cake and ice cream afterwards. Some items you can have them find are an acorn, a pine cone, a three leaf clover, or a wild flower. Adapt the list to fit your surroundings. Older kids could use a digital camera to take pictures of scavenger hunt items.

Well, maybe kids don’t actually want to find a needle in a haystack, but they might be interested in finding candy in a haystack. Buy some straw or even rodent bedding, lay a blanket down in the grass outside, and spread the straw or bedding down on the blanket. Hide candy, coins, stickers, and small toys in your “haystack” and have the kids search for goodies. We did this one year, and the kids had a lot of fun.

Spring Themes

If you’re not sure whether the weather will be nice or not in your part of the country, you can still host a birthday party with a spring theme. Some fun themes for kids include butterflies, bugs, baby animals, flowers, and ladybugs. Or you can always decorate the indoors to look like the outdoors, by using green streamers and balloons, silk plants, or create a tree to tape to the wall. You could even play a game like “pin the flower to the tree,” similar to pin the tail on the donkey.
