I’m not exactly what you would consider to be plus size, but I do like to have my Spanx around to smooth out my obvious problem areas. I am admittedly a Spanx junkie, I own practically all of their body shapers. As of late, I have noticed several negative reviews regarding Spanx Hide and Sleek Full Slip, and I thought I’d step in to defend my favorite company. Here’s my in depth review of the Spanx Hide and Sleek Full Slip.
Tummy Control
After enduring a 3 minute battle with my Spanx slip, I’m finally in it. Since this Spanx slip is intended to be worn under a dress, it covers me from my breasts all the way down to my mid thigh. Unlike some other Spanx products, this slip allows me to breathe comfortably and enhances my posture. It sucks my tummy in to the lovely vortex that is Spanx and I swear I’ve shrunken just about 3 inches at my waist. Also, unlike most body shapers, the Spanx slip doesn’t just take my tummy fat and squeeze into into a circular pooch around my lower tummy, which is always a good thing.
Tummy Control Rating: 9 – Just because I could have withstood a little more sucking into the vortex.
Have you ever worn a tight dress and gotten unsightly side bra fat? You know, the one that is right next to your armpit? I don’t exactly know how to explain this in a less gross way, but I’m sure that there is a more proper and eloquent and way to describe this. This Spanx slip is created to hold that disgusting side bra fat in. Just in case you’re wondering, yes, my girls can breathe. Many body shapers aren’t created for us well endowed girls, but this slip allows them to be free. In fact, the Spanx slip gives them a little push. Thanks to Spanx, my side bra fat has vanished and my girls are a little perkier and rounder.
Upper Body Control Rating: 10 – Makes me look slimmer at the sides and makes my girls look perkier, what more can I ask for?
Thigh Control
Thanks to my mom being half Puerto Rican, I have huge Jennifer Lopez type thighs. My thighs always look huge in dresses, so I tend to stay away from clingy materials. The Spanx slip made my thighs thinner overall. It sucked me in about an inch at the sides and dramatically smoothed out the lumps in the front of my dress. All of this sounds great, but do you want to know how Spanx gave me thinner thighs? By smooshing my thighs together like a sandwich! This is uncomfortable, to say the least. It made it extremely difficult to hold my balance when walking in heels and it sort of makes me walk like I have a “secret.” I don’t like walking with a secret.
Thigh Control Rating: 7 – It definitely made my thighs look thinner, but it made it uncomfortable to walk.
