Southwestern Horseshoe Wine Rack

Horseshoe, Rebar

Making a Southwestern Horseshoe Wine Rack is a simple DIY project that anyone at any skill level can do! So, try making this Southwestern Horseshoe Wine rack out of those leftover horse shoes you have laying around or hit up your local flea market to find some used and vintage horses!

One tip: This simple Horseshoe Wine Rack project will work best if you use similar sized horseshoes! You will see why!

To Make a Horse Shoe Wine Rack or Southwestern Wine Rack You Will Need:

Horse Shoes (at least 12)
Clear Epoxy Glue
Metal Pipes
Epoxy glue
That’s all folks!

To get started you want o clean your horse shoes. I recommend scrubbing off any rust or dirt at the start. This will help the epoxy glue do its job holding the Horseshoe wine rack together.

Now, if you wan to using a bonding glue for metals that should work as well. Look for a metal glue that says it is a s good as welding, without the fire.

Now, to build the front of the southwestern wine rack you will want to lay out your horseshoes, front side down on a flat surface. Lay two rows of three.

Have the horseshoes laid out in a U shape, lining three side by side. The second or bottom row should be the same, lined up directly under the first.

Now, one the top row, on the sides, you will notice that the horseshoes touch in at least two places. Use the epoxy or welding metal glue to glue the two horseshoes together. You will need to let these dry completely.

Repeat this on the bottom row.

Now once the glue has completely dried, most likely 24hours later. You can glue on the third horseshoe of the wine rack to each row.

Again, let the horseshoes and the glue completely dry.

By the way, to save time, make two sets of these, one will be the front and one will be the back of the wine rack, so you will have a total of four rows.

Now, take the two front rows of three horseshoes and glue them together vertically. One row should be lined up directly on top of the second row. Allow the glue to again dry completely.

Repeat this same set on the back panel of your horseshoe wine rack.

Now, one the front and the back of the southwestern wine rack have dries you are ready to attach them together.

Use an existing wine bottle to determine how far apart you want the front and back of your wine rack to be.

Now, have some metal pipes cut to this length. They can make these simple cuts at you local home improvement store. I like the idea of using metal rebar, but you could also use metal plumbing pipes, or almost any sturdy metal piping shaped material.

You will need 8 piece of this metal piping.

You may also need clamps to hold the metal rebar or pipes in place while the glue dries.

Simply glue one pipe on the top left of the horseshoe row. Now glue on the top right.

In the center you will need one metal pipe right where the horse shoes meet.

Repeat this on the bottom row.

Let these dry as needed.

Now, glue on the back of the horseshoe wine rack.

Let the whole southwestern wine rack dry and you are finished!

If you are worried about the epoxy glue or welding glue not holding up over time, assemble the piece of this south western horseshoe wine rack and take them to a local welder. He can weld the metal component of the wine rack together for a sturdy wine rack.

Using a welder will allow you to make this horseshoe wine rack in almost any size, width, or height!
