Sole Supports: You Don’t Have to Live with Foot Pain

Fallen Arches, Foot Pain, Heel Pain, Heel Spurs, Orthotics

If you have feet problems, your entire body feels it. My husband’s feet have hurt him for years. The pain recently got so bad that he went to the doctor. His diagnosis was heel spurs, fallen arches, and muscle atrophy. The doctor told him that if he did not do something about it, the problem would only get worse, eventually crippling him.

His doctor recommended that he visit a podiatrist to receive shots in his heel to combat the heel spurs. He also recommended considering having custom inserts made for his shoes. The thought of an injection in his heel wasn’t very appealing. The cost of the custom inserts was astronomical.

After considering the fact that he was buying a new pair of shoes almost monthly in a desperate attempt to find some comfort, we concluded that the cost of the inserts would soon pay for itself.

We made a few telephone calls and found several places that would take the required mold of his foot and send it off to the manufacturer to be produced. The cost was anywhere from $400 to $500, much too much for our budget. We then called the manufacturer themselves and discovered that he could make a personal visit to their location. This saved over $200 over having a reseller do the mold.

Sole Supports offers orthotics not only to their resellers, but also to the public. My husband made his appointment one evening after work. The manufacturer was in a neighboring county; luckily, the drive was less than thirty minutes. A specialist took a mold of his foot and informed him it would take seven to ten days to manufacture the insert.

When the insert was returned, they contact my husband to pick up and be fitted. They placed the insert into his shoes and checked for the correct form and structure. The inserts made with a high arch, are made from some type of extremely hard plastic, and covered with a comfortable fabric.

My husband has worn his custom made inserts for about three weeks now. He has seen remarkable improvement in the pain in his feet and he has made no mention of buying another pair of shoes. He does feel that one insert has a higher arch than the other, but the company has assured us that each subsequent visit for adjustments will come at no charge.

If you have foot pain, you don’t have to suffer, and you don’t have to endure painful shots in your heels. Consider having a custom made insert to support your arches and relieve your heel pain. The cost is high, but in the long run you will save money over buying pair after pair of shoes in an attempt to find comfort.
