Their coat grows fast, and they need to have it cut at least every six weeks to keep it from becoming unruly. Grooming for Toy Poodles can get costly. Prices can vary, but the average cost to groom a Poodle is about forty-five dollars.
Toy Poodles are prone to certain health problems, such as joint problems, and blindness. They are very territorial, and protective. Sometimes they overreact, and their barking can get out of control. Toy poodles have a very curious nature, they love to investigate the source of a smell, or sound. They should be socialized while they are puppies, otherwise they will not be very cordial around other dogs.
They make great pets for older children who can be taught how to be gentle with the Toy Poodle. When they are puppies, they can weigh as little as two pounds, so I would not recommend them as pets for small children who don’t know how to handle the Toy Poodle with care, Since Toy Poodles have a lot of energy, and need frequent trips to the groomers, I would not recommend them as pets for the elderly, or shut-ins.
