Shane’s Rib Shack: Fast Food BBQ Restaurant Review

Mac N Cheese, Pulled Pork

My friend and I went to eat lunch, so we decided to check out Shane’s Rib Shack. When you walk in, you look up and see a pretty sizable menu; I usually like most places with a nice variety of items. What caught my attention though, was the poster hanging on the side wall. It was a beautifully pictures pulled pork sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese with a Coke soft drink.

I placed my order, and went to get my drink, and right next to the drink bar was a nice assortment of sauces, mild, spicy, and the Shane’s Original. We picked up the Spicy and the Original, and brought them back to the table. Right as we were sitting down, the employee brought us out sandwiches. It was two pieces of white bread with a mound of pulled pork in between. I took out my Shane’s Original BBQ sauce, and squirted it on top of the mound of pulled pork. I took a bite.

No taste.

When making a pulled pork sandwich, I would expect the cook to add some BBQ sauce in the pan while it is cooking. Even after adding the sauce to the sandwich, it did not give it any more flavors. So I decided to try adding in the Spicy Shane’s BBQ sauce, which did not do anything for the sandwich either. I decided to check out the web site to see what this sauce is made of, but as a very clever antic, they only tell you how much of the ingredients are in the sauce and not what is actually in it.

So what else can you get at Shane’s Rib Shack? They offer Chicken Tenders, Buffalo Wings, and Sandwiches along with their sides, including macaroni and cheese, fries, baked beans, corn-on-the-cob and more. I would say that the mac-n-cheese in the pictures looks better then what is actually tastes like. They also offer your generic drinks, salads and a couple of desserts.

As a whole, I was not impressed with Shane’s Rib Shack. The sandwich had no taste, and their special BBQ sauce was nothing to rave about either, although it has been in the family now for a generation. The sides were nothing to talk about, as they all had no flavor or they were just flash frozen and reheated when ordered. I believe the only thing that impressed me about the place was the fact that the clerk brought my food to the table. Other than that, I would not recommend Shane’s Rib Shack.
