So, while you are at the home improvement store go ahead an have your sheet of bead board material cut to size. You want the lines running vertically and have the piece cut as wide as your bed.

Now, have 2 2X4’s cut as wide as your Shabby Chic Beadboard Headboard piece, and 3 cut as tall as your Shabby Chic Beadboard Headboard but minus double the width of the 2X4.

Now, assemble a square or rectangle using the 2X4’s. Lay the top and bottom pieces down first. Insert one 2X4 on each side and one in the middle. These are the vertical pieces.

Now, pre drill holes through the frame corners and use long wood screws to assemble the Shabby Chic Beadboard Headboard frame.

Now, lay you beadboard sheet on top.

You can use a nail gun, one inch finishing nails, or even tough as nails glue to adhere this beadboard to the front of the bed headboard frame.

Be sure to line the edges up to get a professional look.

Now, run a bead of wood filler around the edge of the headboard, on the side, where the sheet of bead board meets the 2X4 frame. Smooth this with your finger.

Now, let the wood filler dry.

Primer your headboard if you did not buy pre primed sheets of beadboard. Let the primer dry.

Now, paint on a coat of white latex semi gloss paint. Let this dry and repeat with a second coat.

Now, to hang the Shabby Chic Beadboard Headboard you need to have 2 1X4’s cut to the same length as the inside of your headboard, measure inside the frame you built from the middle edge of the 2X4 to the outer on either side. These 1X4’s should each fit, on in each side of the frame.

Now, pre drill holes in the 1X4’s and attach them to your bedroom wall with screws. Be sure to drill into studs.

Now, pre drill holes down through the top of the frame of the Shabby Chic Beadboard Headboard. Rest your Shabby Chic Beadboard Headboard on the 2 1X4’s on the wall and drill screws down into the frame and into the wall braces.

You are finished!
