I remember the first time I heard Sarah Brightman sing. I was about 10 years old and my mother was playing the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack. The Andrew Lloyd Webber classic really made me interested in hearing more of Sarah, as the first song I heard playing was “Think of Me”.
After hearing Think of Me, I heard other songs from the theatre production which included All I Ask Of You and Phantom of the Opera. It was then, that I realized “this woman is clearly has one of the best voices I have ever heard”.
Hailing from England, Sarah Brightman remains to be the ultimate classical crossover coloratura soprano. She is not only a singer who is multi-talented, but a songwriter, actress, and even a producer. She has managed to leave her mark in the music industry, as well as, knowing who she is, as a result.
Sarah is truly talented at her craft, as she can not only sing songs, but arias too. What makes her so universal is her ability to take risks and pull them off effortlessly, as well as, the fact she is open to experiment with any type of genre ranging from electronia to even progressive symphonic rock and more.
Some of my favorite songs by Sarah Brightman include: Deliver Me, A Question of Honor, This Love, Harem, Free, and many more, including her cover of the Queen classic “Who Wants To Live Forever”. Some of my favorite arias by Sarah Brightman include the Puccini classics Nessun Dorma and O Mio Babbino Caro. The opera/pop aria “Time To Say Goodbye” (or Con Te Patiro) performed with Andrea Bocelli also remains to be one my favorite songs.
On Vocals
Pros – Sarah is as universal and diverse as her music. She has great control, power, and range. She can adapt to just about any song she sings, hence why she can sing both songs and arias.
Cons – Many opera theorists say that Sarah’s voice is rather weak in comparison to a real opera singer (when they use this term “real” opera singer, they often compare her to Callas or Price or Telbaldi or Caballe). Despite Sarah’s range, she doesn’t possess the power or technical difficulties that would exist in a true opera vocalist.

Pros – When attending Sarah’s show, it is like attending an actual theatre production. She is truly an elite performer.
Cons – There really isn’t anything negative I can say about Sarah’s shows. She truly is an outstanding showman. I guess the only weakness I can think of is, she doesn’t move around often.

On Looks
Pros – Sarah is stunning and has ultimately proved that a woman in her 40s can still look beautiful and possess sex appeal.
Cons – After the weight loss, she’s been criticised to possess an animated look that is rather faux. People also believe that her voice changed rabidly, as a result.
