Music fans get ready: Riverbend Festival ’08 in Chattanooga, Tennessee begins June 6 and runs through June 14. Located on the 21st Century Waterfront on the Tennessee River, Riverbend Festival ’08 promises to entertain with all kinds of music. Riverbend Festival ’08 will feature a diverse lineup of bands that includes bluegrass, classic rock, country, and urban music. Among the performers at Riverbend Festival will be ZZ Top, Grand Funk Railroad’s Mark Farner, The Ohio Players, Mercy Me, Live Oak, Greencards, The Black Crowes, and many, many more.

There are dozens of exciting shows and events happening at various venues throughout the eight days of the Riverbend Festival, and a full event schedule can be obtained at the Riverbend Festival website, http://www.riverbendfestival.com. Below are some highlights for the Coca-Cola Stage:

Food and Fun

Riverbend Festival ’08 may be a music lover’s dream, but there will be so much more to see and do other than enjoying great, live music and stage bands. Riverbend Festival ’08 will offer street performers, a designated children’s zone, 5K and 10K runs, and for those who love high-flying thrills and colorful, loud pyrotechnics, Starfighter jets will provide flyovers, and there will be a grand fireworks show.

Everyone loves good food, and Riverbend Festival is going to offer plenty of it. Bar-be-que favorites will be on hand, as will hot dogs, pizza, funnel cakes, kettle-cooked popcorn will be available to satisfy the hungriest of guests, and to wash down that food will be cold and delicious Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch, and Dasani products. To order alcoholic beverages, one must present a special wristband, which will be provided to those showing identification proving you are 21 years of age or older.

Admission Information

Use Riverbend tokens to purchase your food, drinks, and other goodies; take advantage of advance sales of these tokens and, from April 23 through June 7 purchase a $10 roll of tokens for just $9 at BI-LO. There will be token dispensers and nearby ATMs on site during Riverbend Festival; though the tokens will be valid for use during the eight days of the event, they are non-refundable.

Admission prices vary. Children 10 and under are admitted for free. Admission pins will allow entry into Riverbend Festival for the duration of the event’s eight days. Between April 22 and June 5, pins may be purchased in advance for $28 at Favorite Market stores in and near Chattanooga. One can also purchase a voucher for a pin online for $28; these vouchers may then be exchanged for pins at the festival. Go to http://www.riverbendfestival.com to find out more about online sales. After June 5, ticket prices become $37 and pins will have to purchased at the Riverbend Festival entry gates. Wristbands granting entry for one night will cost $23 and can be purchased at the gate. One-night admission can be had for only $5 on Family night, June 10. There will also be reserved seating and blanket seating available for the Coca-Cola stage events go online or call age. Blanket-area seating admission is $10 each for both children and adults. Reserved seating in front of the Coca-Cola stage will be $20 each night and an extra $5 on Family Night. Additional Information

Riverbend Festival will open each day at 4:30 P.M. and close between 11:00 P.M. and 12:00 P.M; there will be five entry gates into the festival. Parking can be found downtown and in nearby private lots; a shuttle bus will be available from 6:00 P.M. through 12:15 A.M. to transport guests to and from their cars beginning at 3rd and Broad and offering stops at Finley Stadium and the Chattanooga Choo-Choo. There will be one gap in shuttle service on Monday, June 9 at the time of the Bessie Smith Strut, a massive block party located downtown. Boaters may enter the Riverbend Festival area via the Walnut Street Pier Gate, but they must have already obtained an admission pin.

Be sure you plan accordingly; while lawn chairs and blankets may be brought into Riverbend Festival, one may not bring along pets, weapons, backpacks, coolers, glass bottles, or any container which can be used for refills.
