Review of VersaSpa Spray Tan:

Best Bronzers, Mystic Tan, Spray Tanning, Spray Tans, Tanning Products

There’s been a slate of spray booth salon tans over the past several years, and VersaSpa is the latest in this trend. I tried a mystic tan a few years ago but it didn’t work with my skin, so I gave up. When I heard about the VersaSpa, though, I decided it was time to try fake tanner again. Here’s an overview of what you can expect from your VersaSpa spray tan:

How It Works
Like almost every other spray tan, VersaSpa uses DHA to give you a summer glow. However, VersaSpa is Ph balanced a bit differently than other products, and it beet based, which means ending up orange is unlikely.

The VersaSpa requires that you stand in four different positions to ensure that you get tanner on every part of your body. One of the unique things about the VersaSpa, however, is that you don’t have to dry yourself. A blowdrier takes care of this for you, lessening the likelihood of streaks.

The Pros
While no spray tanner can still get you quite as brown as the sun, VersaSpa is a huge improvement on previous generations of spray booth tanning products. You typically will grow progressively more tan over a period of 6-12 hours, and the tan sticks around for a few days. VersaSpa tans absolutely look more natural than previous spray tans I have used or seen, and you can customize the color of your tan depending on your skin tone, with one being the lightest and three being the darkest. Further, the tans seem to build on themselves in a way similar to tanning bed tans. If you go, say, twice in a week you’ll be tanner than if you had just gone once.

The Cons
Like other spray tans containing DHA, VersaSpa does not smell good, and you have to wait several hours before showering. If you moisturize with a scented lotion before using Versa, however, you’ll smell better and your tan will last longer.

Additionally, I’ve noticed that the darkest color, level three, tends to peel off more quickly and more unevenly than the other colors. Be sure to fully exfoliate before trying a VersaSpa spray tan, or you’re going to peeling in a few days. VersaSpa also tends not to last very long. The product information says it lasts 7-10 days, but my tans are generally beginning to fade after three days or so. If you want to maintain a summer glow year round, you’ll have to go to the VersaSpa spray tan booth about as frequently as you go to a tanning bed.

So…Is It Worth It?
After a month of tanning with the VersaSpa, I’m a spray tanning addict. The color is good, the spraying takes less than a minute, and my skin looks more moisturized and even after being sprayed. VersaSpa is, thus far, the best spray tan I have tried.

Where Can I Get a VersaSpa Tan
There are VersaSpa salons in most states, and prices vary considerably. Some salons offer unlimited tanning packages deals, while with others the cost of tanning for a month can run you several hundred dollars, so call ahead. VersaSpa provides a list of salons on their website, which can be found here:
