Review of REEDC: New York Real Estate Education Center

Real Estate Education

After researching several real estate schools in New York for the required 75 hour real estate salesperson course, I decided on REEDC. REEDC has several locations in New York. I live in Nassau County within 20 minutes of the Flushing location. The flexible class schedule also met my needs. Most of the schools in New York are in the same price range for the 75 hour real estate salesperson course. REEDC charges $350 and includes the necessary book.

The classes are three and four hour classes. At the end of 21 classes, you will have completed the required 75 hours of education and have covered everything you need to pass the New York State Real Estate Salesperson exam. During my 75 hours in the Flushing, Queens, classroom, I met and learned from several different teachers. Each teacher has their own method of teaching, some more interesting and perhaps better than others.

REEDC has several other courses and only two classrooms. It is a very small and intimate school. At times, the classroom was very crowded and other times there were only 5 people in the class. The bathroom is located outside the school in the main hallway and is shared with the other offices in the building.

Sundays may be a little distracting in the classroom. There is a church in the office space next door. They keep their doors wide open and then parishioners spill out into the hallway. The school keeps the doors closed to reduce the noise but it does not completely eliminate the noise. Personally, it only bothered me once for about an hour. I took at least 8 Sunday classes so it couldn’t have been that bad.

The Flushing location is just off Main Street on Prince Street in Flushing which is crowded with shops and restaurants. Many of the restaurants are Chinese in the area but there are a few well known chains such as McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts just around the corner if you prefer. I decided to take the plunge and just go for all the Chinese food I could while I was there. I even found, what I think is the best dumpling house in the universe right next to Macys. Not only are their steamed vegetable dumplings outrageously good, they are made fresh right in front of you and they are dirt cheap!

Parking at this school is difficult. Get to the municipal lots early and find a parking spot. It is $4.00 for 8 hours at one some of these locations. To park for free, drive several blocks away to find a spot on the street and beware of alternate side of the street parking.

After taking the required classes, I passed the school exam and the New York State exam. Not only did I need to study the material every night, I also purchased the book Cram For the Exam for practice exams. This book helped me to focus on studying what I didn’t know. I found both the REEDC school exam and the NY State exam to be somewhat difficult but I did pass the school exam with very high marks and I know it was because I studied often and payed close attention in class. There is only a pass or fail grade from New York State so I cannot tell you what my score was but I did pass on the first try.
