Mountain Loft Resort in Gatlinburg, Tennessee is owned by the Bluegreen Corporation, a timeshare company. Mountain Loft is open, however, to both timeshare owners and the general public for rentals. The resort offers several different room options including connected townhomes and private villas, many different entertainment options onsite, gorgeous mountain views, and a convenient location.
Guests of Mountain Loft Resort have a variety of options to choose from when it comes to their accommodations. Townhomes, villas, and chalets sleep from 4 to 10 people and may offer such amenities as full kitchens with all appliances and cooking supplies, balconies with mountain views, Jacuzzi tubs, king sized beds, TVs and DVD players, and plenty of room to stretch out. The rooms are nicely decorated and well stocked with needed supplies for a week long stay. Linen service is available during your stay, but you are responsible to turn in your own linens for fresh ones. There are washers and dryers available in the units if you desire to do your own laundry. Overall the actual accommodations are quite nice and offer just about every amenity you would need.
Located on the Mountain Loft property are several entertainment options. There are 4 swimming pools, one of which is located in the clubhouse and is an indoor/outdoor pool. The indoor portion of the pool is extremely small; however, the heated pool is kept to a very warm temperature, not unlike bath water. This makes swimming outdoors quite comfortable in cooler weather. There are also two Jacuzzi tubs and a sauna located at the clubhouse. A small exercise room features a few machines and a TV. The Mountain Loft clubhouse also has a small game room with pool, air hockey, and a few video games. In the mornings you can enjoy fresh coffee, and on select days, donuts and other breakfast pastries.
The resort also has scheduled activities such as photography classes, craft classes, and children’s and teen activities. These activities are scheduled throughout the week and are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Some have fees, while others are free. The summer and fall months have more special event options than do the off seasons.
One of the nicest amenities Mountain Loft Resort has to offer is the view. Its location offers gorgeous mountain views, many of which can be seen from your private balcony. If you desire a view, make sure you ask for a specific room since not all offer such lovely scenery. The only drawback to the view is that if you enjoy a morning stroll around the grounds, be prepared to scale some mighty steep hills.
Mountain Loft is located just about 2 miles from downtown Gatlinburg. Unless you are pretty fit, you would be hard pressed to walk to downtown, however. Fortunately, there is a trolley stop almost directly across the street from the resort. Here you can hop aboard the trolley and travel just about anywhere in the area you want to go for as little as $.50.
The only major drawback to Mountain Loft resort is that it is a timeshare property. Because of this you receive phone calls daily asking you to come to a special presentation for free tickets to a show. If you don’t mind saying no (or if you don’t mind listening to a spill for some free tickets) this isn’t a major con to consider.
