Review of Baby’s First Giggles Doll

Wrist Watch

Shopping for toys is so much fun, there are a plethora of clever products on the market targeted for babies! When I was choosing toys for my granddaughters first birthday, I had her along as a “product tester”. I knew she wouldn’t remember any toys that I decided to purchase.

She didn’t have any baby dolls, and buying her one was my first priority. While shopping at Walmart I spied the Baby’s First Giggles Doll made by Goldberger. There was a tag on the dolls chest that read “Try me, press my tummy!” I did just that and the baby started to giggle. My granddaughter immediately started to laugh and grabbed for the baby doll. When I gave it to her she squeezed it and held it against her face, and I knew I had a winner. I didn’t hesitate to put the doll in my shopping cart and stick it away for her birthday.

The Goldberger Baby’s First Giggles Doll is adorable. It measures roughly 13″ in height and it has a soft body perfect for babies one plus years of age. Her pink outfit is sewn onto her body and cannot be removed, even the bonnet is connected to her plastic face (with the back of the head being padded and soft as well).

The eyes and mouth are painted on, and there are no small parts that could come off to pose a choking hazard for a baby. The back of the box states this is a “Sweet, safe, soft and gentle doll designed especially for babies”. The box also states this baby comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Baby’s First Giggles Doll has been a big hit with my granddaughter, who carries her everywhere. She isn’t yet able to make the baby giggle, so she brings the doll to me and wants me to do it for her. When the baby starts to giggle she always gives her a hug, and I find this very endearing.

One nice feature of the Baby’s First Giggles Doll is that it is even machine washable. Before placing the doll in the washing machine you need to remove the giggle box by opening the Velcro section on the dolls back. If you get tired of the dolls giggles, you can simply remove the giggle box and leave it out. The doll makes a delightful giggling sound for almost eight seconds.

I easily removed the giggle box and found that you need to have a small Phillips head screwdriver in order to replace the batteries, which require three 1.5 volt LR44 or AG13 size batteries, and that is the only downside I can see. I would prefer this take AAA size batteries, but based on my experience with these alkaline cell batteries (they are the type used in my wrist watch), they should last a very long time.

To conclude, my granddaughter loves her Baby’s First Giggles Doll, and I love watching her interact with it. This is a wonderful first doll for any little girl one year and older.
