Reno, Nevada Summer Events – “Hot August Nights” to “Street Vibrations”

It’s hot in Reno, with hot event to entertain vacationers and local people. Hot August Nights is a “Blast from the Past” with classic cruisers and lots of entertainment. The Best of the West Nugget Rib Cook off offers plenty of good eating as 24 cookers compete for the top title. Hot Air Balloons will decorate the skies as they float through the air at sunrise in September. Motorcycles of all types roar into town for “Street Vibrations”

Following is an overview of the summer events in Reno, Nevada.

Hot August Nights is a “Blast from the Past”
Vintage auto buffs and fans of rock ‘n’ roll love Hot August Nights. Hot August Nights rocks the streets of Reno and Sparks from August 3 – 12. Classic cars from 1972 and older bring back the happy days of yesteryear. Tunes form the 50’s and 60’s. The event attracts more that 700,000 people to Reno every year. The “Blast from the Past” brings in baby boomers reliving “Happy Days” and introduces the era to a new generation who missed it the first time around. Cruisin” cars that are “way cool” are the stars of the bobby socker event.

Hot August Nights offers plenty of “cool” entertainment. There are dozens of concerts throughout the event. Most of concerts are free. On Prom Night sweethearts can dance the night away to the sounds of cool tunes:

For many, the highlight of “Hot August Nights” is the car parade.. This year the car parade will be held on August 12 at 10 am. Proud owners show off their classic cruisers and vintage automobiles as they cruise the streets of Reno.

Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook off on Labor Day weekend.
August 29 to September 3, at Victorian Square. The big rib cook-off gets national attention. Rib specialists from around the nation gather to compete for the Best Ribs title. Food booths sell their special ribs to eager crowds. In 2006 the winner of the cookoff was Famous Daves.

This year there are 24 cookers competing in Cook off. The Great Balloon Race
September 7 – 9, celebrates 25 years of flying high. Hot air balloons rise before the sun in Reno

2007 Street Vibrations,
September 19-23. Reported to be America’s sixth largest motorcycle event. Bikes of all makes and models roll into Reno for five days of fun, concerts, stunts, poker runs, bike games, 200 retail vendors and the Harley Davidson Factory Display.
