Reasons to Buy White Towels

Are you in the market to buy new towels? Read this before you buy. Color does matter!

Over the years I have had to buy and replace a lot of towels. Whether they were lost along the way, or a family member damaged them, or the just wore out, it seems that we were always were having to replace them. Along the way I learned why the very best towels are white towels. Here’s why…

White Towel are Easy to Bleach ~
White towels can be bleached. Colored towels need ‘color-safe’ bleach, and frankly color-safe bleach doesn’t bleach very well. It can’t take the stains out because if it is harsh enough to take out the stains it will take out the color too, that makes your towels all blotchy. You can’t use regular bleach on your colored towels because you will turn them white. Start out with white towels and you will be able to bleach out any and every stain without worrying about damaging the color or getting blotchy towels out.

It’s Easy to Tell When White Towels Are Dirty ~
Have you ever picked up a towel you just weren’t quite sure about and given it the ‘sniff test’? Sometimes you are sorry that you sniffed that. With white towels you can always tell when they are dirty because they are white when they’re clean. If they are dirty, you see dirt; you see stains, you see smudges, and you *know* it’s a dirty towels. With colored towels you are never quite as sure.

White Towels Don’t Fade ~
White towels can’t fade, because they are already white. When you buy colored towels, eventually some of the color will fade. Depending on the quality you get, maybe sooner, maybe later. But sooner or later, all colored towels will fade. That means that the perfectly colored towels that you got to match you bathroom are eventually not going to be that color anymore. Then you will have to replace them and if you put and old one next to a new one, the color fade is going to be really, really obvious so basically you have to get rid of all those old towels and replace them completely, just so that the new ones can start to fade too. White towels match every bathroom, because everything goes with white. So you won’t have to repaint your bathroom just because you got new towels. But you can avoid the fading by starting out with white towels, and they will stay white because you can use bleach to make sure they stay bright white.

White Towels Cost Less ~
If you look carefully up and down the towel aisle at your local store you will notice that you are actually paying extra for the dye in the colored towels. Plain white towels cost less. I suppose it’s because they are less difficult to make. They leave out a step because they didn’t have to color them. (I have a theory that colored towels started out as white towels and you are actually paying for the dye.)

Because white towels are less expensive you can afford to replace them if you need to or just buy more in the first place. If you are able to buy more, then the ones you have won’t get used as often because you’ll have more to rotate, and the towels you have will last longer because they won’t get worn out as quickly.
