Quick and Easy Styles for Short Hair

Short Hair

If long tresses were popular last summer, this year’s heat saw many girls chopping off their hair and opting for shorter “dos.” The modern bob worked its way into many circles of girlfriends, resulting in a short-haired summer wave spreading across the nation. Lighter on the head, easier to wash, and easier to handle when wet in the pool, shorter hair overall seems to really be a great idea for the summer months. However, as anyone who has actually cut their hair short will tell you, shorter hair can (surprisingly enough) take a lot of time to fix in the mornings. Since you no longer have the option of tossing it all back into a messy bun or pony tail, shorter hair usually requires its wearers to spend a decent amount of time fixing it up in the morning. If you’re having trouble with figuring out what to do with your shorter hair this summer, here are a few quick and easy ways to make it look wonderfully cute and manageable.

1) Curl it: Shorter hair will take significantly less time to curl than longer hair, even if your hair is very thick. Use a thin curling iron (you won’t want a very thick barrel for short hair) to work in random curls around your head and neck and sprits lightly with hairspray. You shouldn’t have to worry about curling every strand (unless this is the look you’re going for) if you just want to have a more natural and fun wavy/curly look for the day. Additionally, even if your hair doesn’t hold curl too well, the curling plus hairspray should still work in a little bit of volume into your hair after the curls fall out-a look that still looks great with shorter hair.

2) Headbands: Take advantage of all the cute headbands, clips, and other hair accessories that are in style this season. Flower headbands look great with your short locks, as they add a fun element to your head. Check out stores like Claire’s, Forever 21, or Target to find plenty of cute hair accessories. One of the great things about having short hair and throwing on a headband is that will be pretty much all you have to do to “fix” your hair that day; with longer hair, you’d still have to do something else with your hair on top of the accessories.

3) Pin it up: Go for a completely classy look this season. Even if you can’t throw up your hair into a traditional ponytail, you can still use hair pins/bobby pins to get it off or your neck. For a classic style, start with twisting your hair away from your face (close to the bottom of your head) and pin it all up into place. Since your hair probably won’t be long enough to use any ponytails to secure this look all together, you’ll have to use plenty of bobby pins to keep this look in place.
