A hot color this year for weddings is purple. It is finally coming back in style. While it is not my first choice in color, many brides envision plums, violets, and neon purples for their year round weddings. With a versatile color like purple, many are bound to want drinks that match. I hunted down ten very delicious purple hued drinks, that are not your average cup of grape Kool Aid. This beverages are bound to spice up your reception. This drinks are perfect for almost any theme that is based on the color purple.
Batini Black
Ingredients:
* 2 ounces vodka (recommended: Tito’s Handmade Vodka)
* 1/2 ounce blue curacao
* 10 fresh blackberries
* Splash simple syrup
* Splash grapefruit juice
* Splash Champagne
* Blackberry and bat-shaped mint, for garnish
Directions:
Add vodka, blue curacao, blackberries, simple syrup and grapefruit juice to a martini shaker and shake vigorously until the drink turns a deep purple. Strain into a cocktail glass and top with a splash of champagne. Garnish with a blackberry and a bat-shaped mint.
Directions:
Combine first 5 ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a 14-ounce beverage glass. Top with soda and garnish with a lemon wedge. Serve with a tall straw
Directions:
Rub the rim of a cocktail glass with a lime wedge and dip the glass into sugar (if you have it use lavender sugar) to coat the rim thoroughly. Pour mandarin vodka, parfait amour, and cranberry juice into a chilled shaker. Shake well and pour into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a slice of lime.
Ingredients:
*1 oz. PurpleTM
*1 1/2 oz. White Rum
*3 3/4 oz. fresh squeezed lime
*1 oz. Simple Syrup
*Mint leaves
*Soda
*1 Mint sprig for garnish
Directions:
Muddle the mint leaves in a mixing glass with the lime and sugar syrup.
Add the spirits and the PurpleTM.
Shake with ice.
Strain into a 12-ounce rocks glass or highball glass and top with a splash of soda.
Garnish with the mint sprig.
Directions:
Fill a tall glass with ice, add Absolute, then fill glass with half Lemonade and half PurpleTM.
Purple Waves
Ingredients:
*1 oz. PurpleTM
*1 oz. White Rum
*1 oz. Dark Rum
*1/2 oz. Cherry Juice
*1 oz. Simple Syrup
Directions:
Shake with ice.
Strain over ice into a Tall Glass.
Garnish with a pineapple slice and a cherry.
Purple Pinball
Ingredients:
*1 1/2 oz. PurpleTM
*1 1/2 oz. Gin
*4 oz. Seven Up
Directions:
Pour all over ice in a highball glass.
Garnish to taste.
Purple Surfer Poolside/Surfside Party Punch
Use a standard 2 quart pitcher and fill well with ice. Add the following ingredients:
*8 oz Coconut Rum
*4 oz Light Rum
*4 oz Dark / Spiced Rum
*12 oz Pineapple Juice
*4 oz Sour Mix
*2 oz Blue Curacao
*10 oz of PurpleTM
Directions:
Mix well or shake and serve cold on a hot sunny day!
Purple Sweet-Heart
Ingredients:
*1 oz. PurpleTM
*1 1/2 oz. Vodka
*1 oz. Cointreau
*Fresh lime to taste
Directions:
Shake well in ice
Strain into a frozen martini glass
Garnish with a lemon rind shoelace
Ingredients
*Scale ingredients to 80 servings
*160 scoops vanilla ice cream
*480 oz red grape juice
Directions:
Pour grape juice over ice cream in large glass/cup of choice and blend until smooth. Can add more or less juice depending on desired thickness. Serve immediately with straw and long handled spoon.
