This small white trash can was designed with poopie diapers in mind. Once the diaper pail is closed, it provides a airtight seal, that helps contain odors. My Playtex Diaper Genie has been a life saver for me. Because I am the mother of twins, the stink of the diapers can get overwhelming. I am bombarded with tons of nasty diapers everyday. Gone are the days of spraying air freshener every hour to mask the odors. When company drops by, I no longer have to explain why my house stinks.
My Playtex Diaper Genie was a gift from my best friend. Since I am not the easiest person to convince of a products validity, I was sure that it wouldn’t work. My budget was already stretched to the wire, the last thing I needed was a product that required me to purchase refills. I was convinced that it was just another way for a product to take my money. It took me two weeks before I decided to take it out of the box to try it.
It took me a little while to figure out how it worked. Once I put that first poopie diaper in the Playtex Diaper Genie, I was hooked. It prevented the odor from escaping almost immediately. Once you place the soiled diaper in the Playtex Diaper Genie, you twist the winding feature located at the top. It encloses the diaper inside of the refill bag to create a individual seal, so that the odors won’t escape when the Diaper Genie is reopened.
The refill bags are lightly scented, and surprisingly, they last for a long time. In order to save money, I use my Diaper Genie for the poopie diapers, and I use a regular diaper pail for the urine filled diapers. The Playtex Diaper Genie Refills are worth the money. If I have to, I will roll pennies just to buy a refill. It may sound a little extreme, but I have a weak stomach, and funky odors just don’t agree with me.
The Playtex diaper genie is easy to empty. When the diaper pail is empty, just press the button located at the top. It will cut, and release the bag from the refill container. I normally take my Diaper Genie outside, and press the release latch at the bottom of the diaper pail, and all of the individually sealed diapers will fall right out of the bottom.
If your refill container is empty, you will need to replace it. If you still have refills in the container, you must remove the container, and tie the bottom of the refill bag in a knot before reusing. I know that the process sounds complicated. It does take a little getting used to. It’s a small price to pay to enjoy a stink free existence. My only complaint about the Diaper Genie, is the fact that it is small, and It fills up rather quickly.
Needless to say, with the constant flow of dirty diapers in my life, The Playtex diaper Genie is a product that I can’t live without.
